Re: (cptnsolo77)

When the door panel is off, with the door closed, put the window down until you see how close the bottom of the window is to the door check stop. It is a strip of metal that "T" s into the plastic runner that goes out the door and fastens to the post. If you have clearance, you don't need ...

Re: Window Recall.....Help me understand this. (cptnsolo77)

That is what I would do. I got my bolts replaced by the dealer and the window still "clicked" on the way down so I took the door panel off and trimmed the door check stop myself. The dealer will only do what the recall requires. You can tell if you have the door check problem by running th...

Just the corner of the stop needs cut off. You can see it get hit by the window when the door panel is off. put the window down when the door is open..if no clunk, then it is the door check.

Re: (northvibe)

The recall was to replace bolts. GM will not fix the door check issue. Again, you can tell if it is the door check by running the window down with the door open....if the window goes down smooth with the door open, then it is the door check. In that case, take the door panel off and cut the corner o...

Re: Door Check Problem (ehe59)

I have detailed photos but I do not know how to post them. If you still need it I can give you a detailed description of how to take the door panel off and how to cut off the end of the door check. There is a "T" shaped metal piece on the end of the plastic rod that fastens to the door fra...

Re: (migitalwarfare)

Just to make sure it is not the door check problem, will the window go down ok when the door is open? If so it is probably the door check. I have walked through this problem above. BTW, it takes 15 min. to remove a door panel if you have not done it before.

Re: Door Check Problem (ToolGuy)

Update: I removed the door panel and sawed off a corner of the door check stop with a die grinder/cut off disc. My theory is that if the door is caught by the wind or thrown open hard against the stop, the stop which is inserted into the end of the plastic guide is pulled out enough to be in the pat...

Re: 2003 Vibe - No AC HEL (joatmon)

Same with my '04. I bought a $12 recharge can at Advanced and put it in. It now blows cool. Even at best, It will take time to cool the interior after the car has been sitting in 80 deg + sun.

Door Check Problem

My 2004 has the same problem. The bolts were replaced under the recall but the drivers side window "catches" on the way down..only when the door is closed. Do you have to take the door panel off the get to the inside of the door check or can you get it out and back in from the outside with...

Re: Window Recall (13Vibe03)

Run the window up and down. If it pops when the door is closed but not when the door is open, then it might be the door check link as discussed above. The dealers will not fix it.

Re: Window Recall (VibeMike)

Mine is an '04 Fusion Orange as well with 70k and this is the first repair. The door stop is clicking slightly when the door is closed but I am just going to ignore it for now because I don't want to take the door panel off and I don't think that it is going to get worse or hurt anything. Maybe Pont...

Re: (Pigger)

I had my recall done last week and it also still pops about 2/3rds of the way down. I called the Pontiac Customer Assistance Center and they called the dealer but the dealer and Pontiac said that all they are required to do is replace the bolts. The dealer told Pontiac that it must be the regulator ...
