crappy radio/cd: have you replaced (in Ontario)?

I want to have the (2nd) dealer installed stock radio/cd replaced. It just doesn't play cds and, when it did, the cd would spin or hiss when you put your foot on the brake. Any suggestions for something better or at least comparable? Where, in Ontario, do I go? Does Best Buy install? Van & Truck...

A problem I've never encountered before my '03 5spd Vibe!

I've always driven a standard shift since my first, a '71 Datsun 510. Til now, I've always just left it in gear when parking, never using the emergency brake unless on an incline. With my '03 Vibe, I have to use the emergency brake virtually all the time when. I've found it has rolled across seemilgl...

Re: Insurance rates (Mr. Poopypants)

How about $5546.88 Cdn per year (in Eastern Ontario) with State Farm, two cars, 4 drivers (two under 25), down from $8040 for 3 cars five drivers (three under 25)!

Re: Engine surges when very cold (silverawd26)

This doesn't sound normal at all. Sounds like something taken possession of it, like the stuck choke on my old Ford fairmont, but this sounds like it's stuck opening and closing.

Re: Engine surges when very cold (joatmon)

Basically, it surges and drops, over and over, until the car is somewhat warmed up, a couple of minutes at most, but only when it was very cold.

Engine surges when very cold

This winter, besides having to get boosted twice, on several very cold occasions, the engine repeated began surging then falling back when the clutch was engaged or when the car was idling in neutral. It was a bit unnerving. The dealer, of course found nothing wrong. Weird.

Yakima Ski rack

Finally, after a two month wait, received the "Might Mounts" for the Vibe roof rack so I can now install the old Yakima ski rack that I used to use two vans ago! I hope the skis and snowboard don't extent so far back that the liftgate slams into them.

Every decimal point counts for something, in my life, silverawd!I just retired last June after 29.6 years of teaching, all of it in the classroom. The Vibe was sort of a retirement gift and a replacement/downsizing from many years of vans and station wagons.

to: HahaI believe that you should allow your son to drive your vibe. He sounds like a caring individual, with lots of good characteristics, making him a worthy person to be behind the wheel of your "cool retirement vehicle". Not to mention the fact that he probably doesn't want to drive it...

Design flaws? Wouldn't it be nicer ifthe little flip out compartment beneath the stick wasn't so flimsy?the instrument panel had more visible gauges?the side mirrors folded back?the rear window wasn't so dangerously small (blind spot)?monotone didn't cost extra?the horn sounded gutsier?

Re: Should I let my 17 year old son drive my vibe? (viBert)

My 17 year old has his own key. He has some conditions, which I made up and we signed, in order to be able to drive it. # 1 He has to come to Mass with us on Sunday or make a good attempt to get there on his own. Needless to say, since August, he has driven it about four times!

How do those Toyo Observe tires compare to say the Blizzak or the Alpin or the Canadian Tire Motomaster Ice/Snow Traks?I got a quote for about $830 (Cdn) for Blizzaks installed on 15" winter rims and $775 for 16" installed on my existing rims.
