Re: (coldmm803)

It could be something as simple as the gas you recently put in the car. I'm having issues with ethanol blended gas throwing the cel for a cat code. When i put in non-ethanol blend the light goes out.

Re: (SkyVibe)

Yes it's true that labeling of 10% blend is not required here. But, it's very east to tell which stations are using it. The no-name brands that are usually 5 to 10 cents cheaper per gal use ethanol as a general rule. I use the same brand as much as posible and im 100% certain that they do not use et...

Re: (SkyVibe)

Skyvibe, I'm 100% certain i filled up with 10% ethanol blend. Sticker on the dispensor said "may contain yada yada" and a seperate island with E85 clearly marked. Plus i dealt with 10% ethanol for the next 3 fill ups and 1100 miles of travel with the CEl on. Returned to home state, filled ...

The 94105 model is not a "high flow" cat. it is a 49 state obdII certified replacement and is the one you need to replace yours with. The high flow model is i believe a 5xxxx series. Some people on 9th gen and matrixowners tried them and had issues. They flow more but will not pass emissio...

Re: High flow catalytic converter, will it fit? (kevera)

Avoid those high flow cats like a rabid dog with a bad case of the mange. They dont last, will trigger CEL's If your going with a magna flow cat get part number 94105 instead. Many here have had issues with the high flow model.

Re: p0420 and ethanol? (yippeekyaa)

hskater26, when you replaced the cat 6 months ago, exactly which cat did you replace it with? Factory, magnaflow, etc. Did the stealership do the install? If so did they reflash the PCM as per the bad cat TSB?

David, that is the kind of information im looking for. by Columbia did you mean columbia SC? I ask this for two reasons. First it seems odd to me that you would travel through Columbia SC to get the Myrtle Beach from Ill. Secondly, Columbia area is where i get my first tank on my trip to the keys an...

p0420 and ethanol?

Here is the situation. For the last 3 years in august i've taken a trip from my home in NC to the FLA keys for vacation. Every year the same thing happens. I get to SC fill up with ethanol and within 30 miles the check engine light comes on. It stays on the entire trip until i get back into my home ...

The compressor itself is fine. The diagnostics the shop did on it included a full vacum pull down of coolant and recharge to spec. It had the correct lvls in it as the pull down showed the amount removed. They also hooked a computer to it and analyzed the signals sent to the compressor. there is als...

I would rather just replace the clutch. No fiddling with coolant recovery issues. But I was hoping for verification that it is indeed replacable. thanks.

A/C compressor help.

A/C system doesnt work. Took car to shop and was told bad clutch. Quoted $750.00 for fix. Did the old second opinion shuffle and left. Some browsing on the web and im seeing new compressors in the $300 to 400 range. Estimate i got says $600 just for the unit. Found a few clutch kits for $150. So my ...

Please reread where i stated "long term test". Your testing procedures outlined were exactly that. It also may be a geography issue. 97F outside air where i live will have a similar humidity lvl. Where in your location i see you deal with 24% humidity at that temperature. On a trip in this...

Try repeating the test with ac on normal. "Max" setting simply closes a valve and which puts the airflow in recirculation mode. This recirc mode will not get the air as cold on a long term test as normal.

Re: Curious MPG increase (RIT)

The car is an 03 GT with current odo of 113k. Went back and looked and the range per tank jumped suddenly on Feb, 21st at the 104k mark and has stayed high since then. So 9k miles of doing this with a near constant range in the 370 to 390 mark. 2 fillups went just over 400 and the lowest range was 3...

Curious MPG increase

Did the 5k oil change on the Vibe and logged the service in the fuel/maint. log in the glovebox. Took note of the MPG as of late. It's the wifes car and i barely drive it. Over the last 2 months the mpg average has gone up to 34 from 32. Nothing has been changed on the car. Same tires, air pressure,...

Since you swapped the tires from winter to summer and it did not change anything you can pretty much rule them out of the equation. I had a similar issue about 20k miles into a set of tires. When i took them in for a rotation i mentioned it to the tire tech. He said alignment can do that, Had it ali...
