Re: 2010 Vibe 1.8 :Need Photo Of Back of Engine Where Timing Chain Tensioner Is !

You might be able to tell if it's valve noise by the frequency. If it's half engine RPM, it's a valve. DId you check valve clearances when you reassembled the cam? Did you move any of the lifters? Hi andrewclaus! Thank you for taking the time to post some help my friend. It seemed like the valve cl...

Re: 2010 Vibe 1.8 :Need Photo Of Back of Engine Where Timing Chain Tensioner Is !

tpollauf , thank you so much for this great help! I can see exactly what I was looking for, the image shows the connector I was referring to. And from the drawing, it DOES connect to the lower Timing Chain Tensioner bolt. I really didn't expect that to be the case! I will make sure to re-attach it c...

2010 Vibe 1.8 :Need Photo Of Back of Engine Where Timing Chain Tensioner Is !

Hi all, I have a 2010 Vibe, 1.8L, 2ZR engine (says on label). I removed the the old Timing Chain Tensioner...and was about to install the new one. But I'm hoping some can provide a photo, because I need to see the back of the engine (in particular the wiring harness attachment location near the tens...

Re: Had To "Jimmy" Door: Help With Door Dings/Scrapes?

I can't help with the 2010 key questions since I have an 08 and 07 and they are different with the security/fob. As far as the trim, I have used a flat black touch up pen on some areas that had chips and it is not noticable but your area has a little more damage. I would suggest trying to smooth ou...

Had To "Jimmy" Door: Help With Door Dings/Scrapes?

Hey all. Hope your Vibes are still giving you as much fun as mine is. I stupidly locked my keys in my car and didn't have another set of keys. With the help of friends I eventually did get it opened, but the driver-side passenger door was damaged a bit due to use of a crowbar. I have included a phot...

Re: 2010 Vibe, 1.8L : Oil Pan Replacement Questions

Thanks joatmon. I am going to order the oil pan and attempt the replacement job. There is a still a leak, so I figure this is the best way to go about it. Thanks for the info on the RTV vs. gasket. I'll see when I drop the pan. Now, does anyone know what the replacement bolts for the oil pan are? Th...

Re: 2010 Vibe, 1.8L : Oil Pan Replacement Questions

Thanks for your reply & help, andrewclaus. I will certainly check above the area to see if anything is coming from the timing chain tensioner. And good to know I can take the pan off and replace the gasket...instead of buying a new pan. Thanks again.

2010 Vibe, 1.8L : Oil Pan Replacement Questions

Hi there all, Don't you love it how it always seems to be the case that you work on one car issue...only to stumble upon another? That's the case here. My Vibe is a 2010, 1.8L engine. I replaced the serpentine belt. And in dong so noticed some fluid leaking. I cleaned-up all the fluid I could on the...

Re: Need Help: Vibe Engine Makes Grinding Noise At Start

It's been some wild weeks since I posted. Apologies to you, tpollauf for not responding. Thank you for your reply and help. It's a 1.8L engine. I "think" it requires a new VTC Camshaft actuator. I found a few videos, one of which is below. I'm not sure if I'm going to attempt to do the job...

Need Help: Vibe Engine Makes Grinding Noise At Start

Hi all, I was hoping I might get some advice/instructions here about a problem I'm noticing when I start the car. I have a 2010 Vibe and I love it still with 230,000 miles! Gotta help keep my baby running! (with your help) When the car has been sitting for a while, when I turn the ignition...it make...
