Re: Fuel Economy and AC odor (06VIBE)

My wifes '05 AWD Automatic Vibe gets 30MPG no matter what (during the summer).I have personally filled the tank with 12.2 gallons more than once(how did I make it to the station?) We also get that nasty damp-oil smell from the vents when the A/C is switched off. Seems to be getting less noticable as...

Wanted ABS and AWD and got it. Toyota ABS systems are almost trouble free and the insurance discount paid for the option expense

Re: Opinions on S.U.V.'s (tangerine)

For over all reliability, check out a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 6 cylinder and part time 4WD...you'll get 20+mpg and plenty of room. Whatever you pick, make sure you get some kind of extended warranty!

Re: AC temp at vent (Digger)

If you really love your Vibe, consider adding refrigerant only a temporary measure. That system only has a 1.54 lb capacity, so if you in fact installed one pound (16ozs.), you had a very low charge. An evac. & recharge at a repair facility (with leak tracer or dye) would go alot further in prop...

Re: Your Tires are Low, Stupid (VforVIBE)

These cars are pretty light in weight, especially over the rear tires. Its easy to miss a low tire until it is almost flat since it only takes 10 or 12 psi to hold up a sidewall, and radials have all got that bulge at the pavement anyway. You would be happy with a digital led tire gauge, so when you...

Re: Anybody have their auto tranny's go out? (kostby)

Whether lurching back & forth in cruise is "normal" to correct for rich emissions or as a failsafe measure that protects some component in the trans., some engineer made a mistake! Computers in todays cars react and correct so fast that nothing like this should be happening at all. Its...

I have a suggestion:Once you are outside of your car, instead of touching it immediately with your hand, push the door closed with your elbow. Knees work too. The shock is less extreme (you hear the shock but you don't feel it).

Re: Anybody have their auto tranny's go out? (Lancer)

Just turned 12,000 miles and only 1 trans. complaint (since day 1): while cruise is engaged going uphill, trans. will downshift and engine will rev like it's supposed to untill speed selected is attained. Then, as if it over shot it's mark, it "hangs" in it's still downshifted gear (with e...

Re: mudflap problems

I attempted to order a full set of mudflaps today from the Pontiac dealer that sold me my '05 AWD Vibe. The parts counter person said that they are no longer selling front mud flaps, only rears are available. He said there is a problem with fitment on the fronts and GM did not give a date for future...

Re: Anyone else disappointed in their 2006 Gas Mileage ? (guitarspaz)

My wifes '05 AWD Vibe averages 28.5 with almost 6,000 miles on the odometer now. So far this car has hit a low of 25mpg and yet it has never gotten more than 29mpg. She drives 23 miles one way to work each day and noticed the computer holds overdrive from engaging for about the first 5 miles each wa...

Re: How do you feel about the quality of your Vibe? (ragingfish)

I am at 4,000 miles now, and brought back to the dealer just once to have alignment redone under warranty. Marked the tie rods before hand and rechecked when I got it home: no changes were made and steering wheel still off center. I like my Pontiac dealer but it looks like they just parked it in the...

A Purolator and Kendall GT1 full synthetic has gotten me to 200,000 miles in my last 2 vehicles. It's the ONLY oil used one of the largest national chains of automobile service facilities (Firestone).

Re: Need New Tires - Any Recommendations? (Birdiegirl)

I had the H rated Good-for-a-Years removed when I bought my "05 AWD, and had Bridgestone Insignia SE200s put on in there place. They are fantastic! The TireRack is way off base to rate them out of the top 10. A quiet tire, yet heavilly siped. Great wet adhesion. I can't wait for snow!
