Re: AC Leak (djkeev)

My mechanic *did* use the refrigerant with the dye. I didn't know this when I wrote the post. And no, he never said there was no leak - he said let's see how this behaves since it passed a 30min vacuum test and after filling passed a sniffer probe test. So the only omission from my mechanic is he di...

Re: AC Leak (djkeev)

djkeev,Thanks for the commentary on leaking seals and topping off only a little. My AC stopped cooling. My mechanic verified it was totally empty. He pulled a vacuum and let it sit for 30min and not evidence of leaking. So he filled the system and tested for leaks with his sniffer. No evidence. But ...

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to confirm that Corolla is now using 16" steel wheels and that they fit on a Vibe/Matrix. My pre-Vibe car was a Corolla, but it had 15" wheels. When I go to the junkyard, can I ask for 16" Corolla wheels?

Instrument Cluster Inerchangeability - 2003 and beyond

Is the 2004 instrument cluster the same as the 2005 that's got the white numbers? That would certainly improve the visibility when the damn headlights come on due to shadows hitting the auto headlight sensor.(Yes, I've modded my sensor to make the headlights less prone to turning on, but it's still ...

Re: Moonroof Sunroof stuck open in vent position (joatmon)

I forgot about how expensive the door checks were. doh. Yep, I'll take it in and let the dealer shop do it. Thanks for reminding me of that thread (there are 2-3 threads on window clicks - another one discussed door checks too, as well as loose mechanisms.)Has anyone found a complete listing of all ...

Re: Moonroof Sunroof stuck open in vent position (joatmon)

Here's an update: The day following my post, I checked my service manuals - the failure chart only addressed electrical issues. I was confident the motor was getting power as I could hear the relay clicking in, and could hear a faint whine noise as if the windings of the motor were indeed getting po...

Moonroof Sunroof stuck open in vent position

Today the moonroof (sunroof) on my 03 Vibe stuck open in the vent position. Vent position is when the back is tilted up. I opened the vent last night in my garage, kept it open all day today in a sunny parking lot (no trees within 1/4 mile), drove for 25 miles on highway, then could not close it. I ...

Re: Simple electric fan for supercharger - would it actually work? (Mr. Poopypants)

Thanks for the excellent description of how cold air intake works. I get it, and it sounds great two follow-up questions please:a) would I expect any problems starting or running my car in below zero winter weather if I install CAI?b) I prefer to listen to my car stereo at moderate volume, so how lo...

Re: Simple electric fan for supercharger - would it actually work? (BlueCrush)

Loved the description. LOL.Ok, makes sense. So can someone teach me about CAI (cold air injection)? Looking at the TRD site, they claim an 11HP improvement with their CAI kit. 11HP for a smooth intake pipe and cone shaped air filter? While I'm inclined to believe TRD and everyone else in the GenVibe...

Simple electric fan for supercharger - would it actually work?

I'm a newbie to performance enhancements like forced induction - I'd just like to eek out a little more power out of my 1zz engine in my 2003 Vibe. While catching my breath over the price of the Vibe supercharger, I stumbled across this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...74368I would imagine ...

Re: Programmable door locks

Forgive the dumb question - how do you program the car so the door locks engage when you shift out of park? I have an '03 Vibe and the door locks are all up to me (as I generally prefer - just like headlights)!Art

Re: Auto Headlights - change the sensor cover

Here in NY, we have inspection and registration stickers in the front windshield right over the headlight sensor. That made the too sensitive headlight sensor worse - morning drive to work in bright sun made the headlights turn on when the sticker or A pillar shadow go over the sensor. My fix was to...
