Re: Is my Vibe Salvageable?

With $1200 owed to the tow company, and at least $1500-$2000 in repair fees to ensure the unibody isn't bent, and getting that body sheet metal fixed, your best bet is to just get another one.

The throttle body on the 2ZZ is known to stick. It's an expensive throttle body new..You could try swapping with one from a junkyard to see if that solves your high rev issue. Another alternative that's cheaper, is to try and lubricate the throttle cable to see if the cable is sticking. Is the check...

You absolutely can replace them yourself! Definitely recommend picking up replacement sway bar end links. If you're in a rusty state, you'll have a heckuva time getting them off. If your lean code is P0171, it is definitely due to the intake manifold gasket not being replaced.

Replace it, and most if your rough idle issues should go away.

Re: Ran out of gas. Now the engine light is on

P0171 is likely the intake manifold gasket, especially if you live in a colder climate. The gasket shrinks a little, allowing a small air leak and thus throwing the code. Once warmed up, that small leak is sealed back up, and usually clears the light.

It's like a $15 part and an hour to replace it.
