2009 Pontiac Vibe GT Engine Swap

Post by CDNpatriot »

Looking at engine swap compatibility for a Pontiac Vibe GT 2009
I believe engines that are suitable donor candidates for a 2ZZ-GE swap (I assume this is the engine I have ):

The 2ZR-FE produces significantly less power (132 hp vs. 180 hp)

The 2AZ-FE is a larger, heavier 2.4L engine with different mounting points

Neither engine features the VVTL-i variable valve timing system that gives the 2ZZ-GE its high-rev character

For a proper 2ZZ-GE replacement, seems like I need to source from the earlier models listed: 2009-10 Vibe GT or Matrix GRS? Any other earlier models that have this engine? Are engines with 200 km a bad idea to swap?

Yours has the 2AZ. You will need to replace it with the same motor. Being yours is FWD, you have a variety of 2009-2010 Vibe GT/AWD and Matrix XRS/AWD to pick from. This motor was also on Corollas and Camrys of that timeframe. I think even some RAV4s had them in it.
