Re: To Change or not to change wheel size?

I went with 17" Motegi Racing MR125's with Cooper Zeon RS3-A's and the car handles noticeably better than the stock 16" on my 2010 base. I use the stock steel rims for dedicated winter snows.

Correct engine oil for 2010 1.8L? 5W30 or 5W20?

Hi Folks, What are you all using in your vehicles? My owners manual says SAE 5W-30 but the oil filler cap says SAE 5W-20. Which is correct? I've been using the 5W-20 Napa Synthetic but want to know if I should trust the manual or the filler cap? Have any of you faced this same situation? Was the man...

Re: HELP! Can't remove oil filter from 1.8L engine!

Thanks for the tips guys........I finally was able to get under the car and see for myself. My housing is a bit rounded, I'm told from someone not using the correct size wrench. It's a (removed) poor design in my opinion but then again I'm not a Japanese engineer! There are several style tools avail...

Re: Just bought 2010 Vibe Base

I will start a Garage thread......that's a good idea. Happy to report I finally got time to install the new K & N Intake and am very pleased. Install went smooth and quite easy.....I enjoyed it. I think it looks great and sounds great too. At idle or normal (easy acceleration) there really isn't...

HELP! Can't remove oil filter from 1.8L engine!

Hello fellow Vibe owners. Had a local shop perform what I thought would be a routine oil and filter change, however when I returned to pick up car they told be the canister style oil filter would not come out! So they changed the oil and not the filter. Manager told me one of his techs used to work...

Re: 1.8L Turbo charger or Super charger available?

Thanks for the feedback.......I will research with the leads provided. I'm a man of modest means so certainly will not be investing 30K in mods in a used car I paid $9,800 for!!!!! YIKES!!

1.8L Turbo charger or Super charger available?

Does anyone know if a turbo charger kit or Super charger kit is made for the 1.8L Vibe (or Matrix or Corolla)? It's a 2010 and I'm interested in this or any other mod that could wake this motor up? Any thought or feedback on this would be appreciated!

Thank you 8-)

Re: embarrassing moment on the way to work

Concentrating on forward view is without question paramount in safety, however all of us at one time or another have had the same type of experience. This is exactly why the cell phone/ texting issue is so huge in the news these days. A distracted driver is a dangerous driver. Although I've seen peo...

Re: Just bought 2010 Vibe Base

Hi Folks......been a while since I chimed in but wanted to give an update. Finally took delivery of my car a few weeks ago. Took over two months to get the title. I will never buy a car with a lien on it again. Part of the delay in transfer is it was a PA title which had to be sent to Albany to get ...

Re: Want to install fog lights in '10 base, any suggestions?

Yes, they come out.... all the wiring is even there! All you need to do is buy the inserts, a fuse, and a relay. There's a tread here (somewhere) that details the install procedure. Awesome...... when you mention "buy the inserts" is this something I need to get from GM? Or is it availabl...

Want to install fog lights in '10 base, any suggestions?

Howdy.......looking to install fog lights in my 2010 Base model. As you know from the factory there are not cut-outs for lights. Maybe the exiting pieces can be removed, I'm not yet sure. Forgive my ignorance but do the solid pieces in my front facia remove easily for this to be done? I've not yet t...

Re: what did you pay for your vibe?

This was bought from a buddy getting divorced. He had just bought from a dealer a month ago for $10,999 and he paid $2k for the warranty. He just wanted to get rid of or he was calling the bank to come repossess. After joining this forum and seeing so many nice GT's I kinda wish that's what I got, b...

Just bought 2010 Vibe Base with 38,500 miles. 1.8L, 5 speed stick, PW, PL, PM, A/C, Cruise control, new tires, new rear discs and pads. Paid $9800 and for $50 I can transfer the Guardian warranty good for 5 years or 100K miles. Just waiting for the title to clear and I'll be getting on the road soon...

Thanks for the heads up SeattleJeremy. I just printed the installation instructions for the Corolla from K & N website and it's complete with pictures. I'll compare to my Vibe and if all looks good will order the intake kit # 69-8757TTK (most likely on eBay). Thanks for the advise on wheels as I...

Re: Just bought 2010 Vibe Base

K&N is weird like that. I emailed them after I installed their intake kit on my 2009 Vibe GT back in July of 2009 and told them that they should add the 2009-2010 2.4L Vibe to their fitment list for this specific intake. They said they wouldn't until their research and development department ac...

Any Air Intake System available for 2010 1.8L?

Has anyone installed a cold air system on their 2010 1.8L Vibe? K & N does not list application for this or the Matrix. But I've been told on this site that the 2010 Corolla Air Intake P/N 69-8757TTK will filt the Matrix. This info was from a Matrix forum. Has anyone here actually done this mod?...

Re: Just bought 2010 Vibe Base

Doesn't it seem odd if the Corolla kit also fit the Matrix and the Vibe then KRN would list it in the application chart for these models? On their website they do not. I'd sure hate to spend $300 and have a fitment issue. I wonder what KRN would say if I called them??

Just bought 2010 Vibe Base

Hi Folks, Just bought 2010 Vibe 1.8 Base model with 38,500 miles. It's a 5 speed manual trans and has all the power options (cruise, locks, windows). Upgrading from my 2004 Chevy Aveo which has 259K miles on it. I love hatchbacks and like the extra capacity, and styling of the Vibe. I hope it gives m...
