Re: (ragingfish)

Ragingfish,I installed the springs solely for the performance gain of stiffining the suspension. Unfortunately, being that the Vibe isn't probably the first car the aftermarket companies think of when they consider race parts a performance spring for the vibe that doesn't lower the car doesn't exist...

I contacted Koni about a month ago and they said they were working on a strut set for the VIbe-, but I also saw threads almost a year old with the same remark- So- who knows if they will ever come out with a strut for our cars. As far as the KYB's. I believe the matrix/vibe actually uses KYB's as an...

Thanks Madbill. That sure sounds like an easier route to go. Any idea where I could find those? If not specific to my car any idea what diameters I might need?

Re: (goodvibe)

Rassermon was right. The noise is non-existant now. I am now quite confident that the boots will stay in place while driving. As far a servicing, I found that as long as one wheel is lifted at a time the sway bar creates enough pressure to keep the boots seated. However, when both rear wheels are li...

Great idea, I just bought some of this material today. On a side note, I have been using the stuff you put in drawers (shelf liner) to keep thing from sliding. I keep it rolled up as well a folded towel in the compartment above the spare. I just roll it out when I need it. This would surely give thi...

Rassermon thanks again. I've been killing myself trying to find a way to eliminate the noise. You wouldn't believe how many times I had the struts on and off- I think I can do it in my sleep- or at least I'll be dreaming about it in my sleep. The noise---It's really not that bad, I just thought some...

Thanks again for the reply--However, what I meant by tires and brakes was- If you went to a shop did the tech have a problem with the springs being mis-aligned folowing the lowering of the wheels to the ground. Also my car still rattles, and I can't make out exactly where it's coming from. Wrong Hotchkis?

I just completed a Hotchkis spring install last night. After taking it for a test drive I noticed a clank comming from the rear which I thought must be the spare tire because I didn't complete the install of the plastic floor pieces. During todays errends (car all together ) I kept hearing the clank...

Cheap Rims/Tires?

I was wondering if anyone knew the cheapest route to get larger rims 18-19 inches and how wide a tire could I get away with and still clear the fenders during the hardest of turns. I could care less about looks- these will be strictly for autocross with race rubber. If they look worse than the donut...

Devlop, They sound great- I can't believe you don't even have to crawl under the car. I'm going to have to work on convincing my wife how much safer the car will be with a better suspension- and that the $1,200 is a small price to pay for piece of mind

I think I'll start with the Hotchki's sway bars, and run the next event (Nov 6th) with just those. Your testimony make the teins seem very convincing- yet I'm not sure if i'm ready to invest so highly. I may do what you did and race for a season on sprngs, and then if I'm still waiting for (and want...

I found on other cars that cracked pads are usually caused by execssive heat for extended periods. I used to deliver papers in a saturn and because of very frequent braking I had to change the pads almost once every two months. When I ditched the job, the pads lasted years- same calipers. Your probl...

Thanks for the info. Do you recomend the full CAI over the short one? I see you are using Ingens. What makes the ingen worth the extra 100 bucks. Race suggested upgrades

I recently began racing solo II in my stock base vibe and am looking to improve the handling. Initially I will be uing the street rubber. I am considering the following: Springs - The Vibe has by far the softest suspension of any car I've owned. I am looking to stiffen it up but hopefully not lower ...
