My mechanic had the replacement alternator double checked by the starter/alternator shop. Amps and volts are good. The replacement is a refurbished toyota core with a Toyota voltage regulator.

battery charge light stays on

My 2003 Vibe has had the battery charge warning light on for years. The charge system floats at 14+ volts at idle and battery charge state in the past has not been a problem. Just recently the alternator failed and the car ran off the battery until it went dead.So no problem, new battery and a rebui...

The Daytimers came back after cutting the yellow wire at the DRL relay. I haven't grounded it yet as per the documentation I received. Prior to that the new alternator went back to the shop and they reported it had a blown regulator (the same as the failed original). The cut wire also disabled the b...

Seized air conditioning compressor

The mechanic got the alternator in after loosening the air conditioning compressor and I still have a battery warning light. I tried the air and it stalled the car out right away. The car sat for 2 months before all of this started. Now with the motor off the compressor will spin freely backwards bu...

Very cool. I just saw the Pontiac version of the diagram too. Where is the DRL relay?

I've just noticed that the daytime running lights are out! Anyone know where the DRL module/relay is located? Also, I saw a schematic that says there's a 15amp fuse labelled AM@ in play here. Looking for it as well. Thanks for any help.

The volts always look good now regardless of load. The alternator supplier thinks one of the three wires in the harness drives that battery warning light. But they are not sure if it goes to the dash direct or involves other logic or onboard computer. Anyone know?

Battery Warning Light stays on when running

My '03 Vibe went between blinking the battery warning light and lighting it up solid. The battery failed a test (although 2 years old) with the cause suggested as a weak charge system. The battery also went dead when the car sits for 2 weeks. I installed a warranty replacement battery (Costco 800 CC...

Re: Lower alternator bolt help (wyldejackyl)

Just had the same problem with my '03 Vibe. The lower bolt is so torqued that the head of the bolt rounded on me. The lower bolt extends through the 2 lower tabs on the alternator that straddle a tab on the engine. The RH nut is a dowelled nut pressed into the RH tab. I had to take the car to a mech...

The noise continues to be gone after the new valve. The previous information was the complete set of documents released by my dealer. Apparently results vary by individual dealer and service advisor.

My dealer claimed my 50000 km service schedule listed transmission service : fluid and filter. I had to prove that the service schedule in my manual listed the service as due at 100,000 km under any driving condition and that the 50,000 km recommendation was actually a cooling system flush and fill....

Re: new TXV in for compressor ticking noise

The part came in and was installed this morning. So far so good, no noise. Here's the scoop, hats off to my service advisor for getting details from the tech who worked on my Vibe. Follow the line from the air compressor along the engine as it enters the firewall. There are 2 lines, the one you want...

Save money and mod a Matrix cabin filter

My cabin air filter needs changing at 53000 km. My Vibe dealer in Canada quoted $ 61.66, Canadian Tire $ 38.99 and the Toyota dealer quoted $ 32.95 for a Matrix cabin filter. So I bought the Matrix filter. Funny thing, the Matrix filter is half an inch longer! I can't close the filter door with the ...

Re: A/C compressor noise? (joatmon)

I just got my car into the dealer for a fan noise complaint. I've noticed a slight click/gear noise as I accelerate mildy from a stop. Noise comes from the front passenger side and disappears before second gear. Fan controls must have the air compressor running (in my case defrost). Happens with any...

Loose dash lighter TSB on my 2003 Vibe

My 2003 Vibe lighter socket pulled right out of the dash and refused to slip back in. I pulled my cell adapter and the socket came with it way to easily. My Canadian dealer applied TSB 04-08-49-014 saying it had just been announced. Anyone else had the problem. BTW it is fine now. Looks like I got a...
