My 2003 Vibe lighter socket pulled right out of the dash and refused to slip back in. I pulled my cell adapter and the socket came with it way to easily. My Canadian dealer applied TSB 04-08-49-014 saying it had just been announced. Anyone else had the problem. BTW it is fine now. Looks like I got a new socket and lit retainer ring.
I had the lighter assembly replaced on my '03 as well, for the same issue where it pulls out of the dash.It was doing fine for a while. The cellular phone charger doesn't cause any problems. But it seems to grab hold of my ham radio power supply tightly. I have to hold the socket in when I remove the plug, or else it starts to work its way out.I am kinda afraid to let the dealer work on that again. Last time, they had to replace all of the silver dash trim, plus the shifter console, because all that plastic ended up with scratches or large chunks missing.I figure I'll dig up the P/N for the dash-mounted accessory power outlet like the 04-05 w/o the "smoker's package" and install it myself. That should take care of this problem, I hope...

Took mine in today to get it fixed. Unfortunately they are still waiting for a part, so it didn't get done.I found when I pulled mine all the way out, if the inside metal piece gets turned it doesn't allow the spring like medal in the back to expand out. Causing it all to come out. First time it happened my wife pulled the whole dang thing out unhooking the wires and all.

The lighter came out, and the wiring dropped behind the dash. I didn't remove any trim on the dash when putting it all back together - it put up a pretty good fight.

Mavrik, I wonder if my problem reappeared because they could have ordered the wrong parts, perhaps? I definitely don't see the part number you listed there on my paperwork.

I noticed this on my 04 Vibe, so one day when it pulled out I bent some of the little retainers out and slid it back in. So far so good......but if it keeps it up ill get it replaced.

I just called the parts manager at my dealer. Who happens to be my dad. Anyway, he had ordered the old lighter part number but he said with further checking they sent the correct part. Sounds like GM automatically chooses the correct part when ordered with the old part number.
I just took my 03 Vibe in for 30k coolant flush (the only maintanance I havn't been able to do myself so far). Anyways, I told them about this part pulling out last week. They said that they would look at it. They of couse have to order a part, so they will call me when it gets in. They said it would take over 2 hours to install the new outlet because they have to take the entire dash out.
Entire dash out? that can't be right... check around cause I am sure others have had it easier taking theirs out when they painted sections and such...oh well not like your paying for it.
