Re: AWD Rear Differerential Side Oil Seal (joatmon)

GM dealer couldn't help me...unless I wanted to wait an indefinite amount of time to "maybe" receive the part. So as a heads up just go straight to the Toyota dealer! I haven't made it there yet myself, but it's on the to-do list. Hopefully they can help me out...

Re: Brake Caliper Preventative Maintenance (zoomie)

The calipers are pretty bulletproof and I replace them when I see my pads are not wearing evenly...However if you're interested in lubing the calipers, you can pull the bolts upon which the calipers slide and lube them. It may help to put some grease in the holes the bolts slide in as well, and perh...

Re: (A Psycho Martyr)

Ended up using some emery cloth to get past the deep scratches, and then a restoring with the same wax/polish that I used to wetsand my headlights. Seemed to work! The Vibe is at peace once again.

Re: AWD Rear Differerential Side Oil Seal (keithvibe)

Same problem I'm having! The diagram in the service manual gives me a good idea of what I'm looking for, but no actual part number or measurements. I've been searching for a couple days now...looks like I'll have to bite the bullet, go to the dealer, and pay an unnecessary amount of money for a chea...

AWD Rear Differerential Side Oil Seal

Hi all,I know there was a recent post asking the same question, but I thought the answers given weren't justified...The output shaft seals on my rear diff. are leaking slowly and I've read up in the service manual the procedure on how to replace the seals. I've got the time over Christmas to do it, ...

Re: College Student Looking at an 03 Vibe...Good deal? (chapstickaddict)

Haggling? It's basically two people agreeing on a price for the vehicle. A $5000 offer might be a real "low-ball" offer if she already sounds firm at $6500. Just make it clear that you are not willing to pay that price, and what your intentions are! Try to find flaws in the vehicle to nego...

Re: College Student Looking at an 03 Vibe...Good deal? (chapstickaddict)

Hello! I'm a college student as well and just bought an '03 AWD myself from Charlevoix! 115k and $5000, but I'll have over $1000 put into her (tune-up, tires, fixing random issues) by the time it's shaped up for another 100k.So, as far as the car you're looking at...it's definitely a bonus if there ...

Re: New Owner with Used Vibe...Tune-up woes? (star_deceiver)

No studs for me, thanks. That video helped me reassure that. I'll have to do some more tire research I guess. The Nokians from my truck seem to have a really good rubber compound, and I've had them on the vehicle for 2 years and 20,000 miles with less wear than one would expect from a soft winter ti...

Re: Restoring a Scratched Display? (dgekiere)

Yes! I actually have some restoring compound I used to buff the haze off my headlights. I'll try it...it's just hard to guess how the surface will act since it's such a unique texture.

Restoring a Scratched Display?

Hi all,I feel like I've been posting like a madman trying to sort out all the little things involved with buying a used vehicle. I just bought an AWD Vibe with 115k and am trying to get everything the way I want it inside and out! (Auxiliary ipod adapter soon to be added).Anyway, the inside of the c...

Re: Troubleshooting Exhaust on '03 AWD Vibe (keithvibe)

Hey thanks keithvibe...checked prices for the gasket and it's around $12...although there is listed a flange gasket (which looks like the donut gasket I'm thinking needs replacing), as well as an "Exhaust Connector" listed for $5...This should be interesting.Top this off with the fact that...

Re: Looking at a 03 Vibe GT, some questions. (shaneinhisroom)

I was involved in the car seach just last week. This Vibe seemed tempting due to it's low miles. It's very hard to find them with so little mileage! I was considering buying this one (spotted it on autotrader), but it was across state lines and I didn't want the GT badly enough because of the premiu...

Re: New Owner with Used Vibe...Tune-up woes? (star_deceiver)

@Zimm - thanks! I guess there are couple 'ghetto' Meijers around though...@star_deceiver - I was going to ask that question on the forums! Right now there are some el-cheapo economy tires. I don't think I want to go all-out winter tire (I've got Nokian Hakkepiliita's on my truck...they're fantastic ...

Troubleshooting Exhaust on '03 AWD Vibe

Hi all,I'm new to the forums and posted a collective question in maintenance including exhaust issues. I'll repost my problem here as it seems the more appropriate place.Just bought an '03 AWD Vibe with 115k. I know the engines are supposed to sound throaty, but this one definitely has an exhaust le...

Re: New Owner with Used Vibe...Tune-up woes? (joatmon)

Hey thanks joatmon! It just blows my mind that vehicle parts can last that long without maintenance! Switching from a Ford Ranger...and it's good to finally get a car that I will enjoy driving. You've answered most of my questions...I guess I'll just tighten the e-brake, as I don't see any reason it ...

New Owner with Used Vibe...Tune-up woes?

Hi all,Just picked up a used '03 AWD Vibe and thought I'd jump on the forums! It's got 115,000 on the odometer, so I plan on doing all the fixin's (fluids, filters, plugs) to ensure another 200,000 out of her! I'm planning my "attack plan" for this weekend so I can start enjoying her. I do ...
