Hi all,I know there was a recent post asking the same question, but I thought the answers given weren't justified...The output shaft seals on my rear diff. are leaking slowly and I've read up in the service manual the procedure on how to replace the seals. I've got the time over Christmas to do it, and I need to save some dough. Problem is...I'm having difficulty finding a seal. The service manual doesn't really give a part number. Yes...I've searched the web for AWD Matrix seals as well!Am I best just going to the dealer and getting the part? I don't want to get raped for an oil seal I could just cross-reference to another vehicle...although I have yet to be able to do so. Thanks!

Same problem I'm having! The diagram in the service manual gives me a good idea of what I'm looking for, but no actual part number or measurements. I've been searching for a couple days now...looks like I'll have to bite the bullet, go to the dealer, and pay an unnecessary amount of money for a cheap seal. I guess the extra money buys me peace of mind!

If you can live without the car for a few days, start pulling it apart and take the old seal to an industrial parts supplier or bearing shop or toyota dealer. Shouldn't take too long to ship.
Quote, originally posted by keithvibe »when i did a search on rockauto.comfor output shaft sealthis is what I came up with, problem is I don't know if it's correct thoughThose look like seals on the tranny, not the rear differential. (The AWD tranny is the U341F)I'd probably call (or stop by) a Toyota dealership, and ask them to look up the part number. Toyota parts departments seem to only function if they have a VIN to look up parts for, and since it's for a Pontiac, your Vibe VIN is of no use. I 'll look on ebay or autotrader to find an appropriate matrix and use it's VIN when I talk to Toyota. A quick look shows this 2005 AWD trix http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/...27142 with VIN 2T1LR30E65C471129
GM dealer couldn't help me...unless I wanted to wait an indefinite amount of time to "maybe" receive the part. So as a heads up just go straight to the Toyota dealer! I haven't made it there yet myself, but it's on the to-do list. Hopefully they can help me out...
