trying to see if anyone else has had this problem. a couple months ago cylinders 1 and 4 started misfiring. I took my car in to the dealer and they replaced the coil packs, it seemed to stop one of the cylinders from misfiring, but the other is still having trouble. Took it back again, and they replaced the computer, problem persists. i noticed now that it only misfires when i make turns. The dealer is now trying to blame it on the my CAI, but I told him that if that were the case, it would do it all the time, not just when I turn, plus the fact that the CAI has been installed for over a year with no problems. They poked and prodded all the wires, hoping to find the problem, and they seem to just be throwing parts at it hoping the problem will disappear.Any information or ideas would be appreciated

Plugs and wires are usually the culprits for misfires and OBD II cars are very sensitive to detecting misfires even before you feel them. Even cars with 100,000 mile plugs will sometimes fail well before. That is why I change my 100K plugs at 50K.
I agree with Salsa...sounds like a problem with spark. The cables are a possibility because they may be bad intermittently, and moving enough in turns to lose contact. I had a similar problem in my old S-10 when a set of Borg-Warner cables I put in started arching out of the #3 wire right throught the boot to the engine only over bumpy roads. If they already changed the plugs, wires, and coil-pack I honestly cant say I know what it is.

The car has thrown nthe misfire code almost everytime. They checked the plugs, and said they looked fine, My first assumption was the wires, and i know they played with the wires for a day or 2 trying to get a reaction through a diagnostic monitor, but they still have yet to replace them. They actually left an on board diagnostic monitor in the car over a weekend when they returned the car to me, so it would catch the problem right as it happens. I've had the car in the shop 4 times now for this problem, and I'm actually thinking of trying to go with the Lemon Act, but don't know if I can because of the CAI.

well there's a whole more mods to the car than just the CAI, but....I just got off the phone with the service manager as I type this, and I hate to say this, but he didn't know the wire harness disconnected from the coil pack. He thought it was all one piece Although I would think that the techs would know that.....anyway, I now have an appointment to take my car in again (5th time) on Monday to look at the wiresThis is just as bad as going to the doctor these days....you go in and they ask you what's wrong with you, and what you would like them to do....aren't they supposed to tell you what's wrong?I think my car might be suffering from cancer
I thought these had no plug wires? That is what coil packs replace.

Soooo...um...how did they change the coil pack before, and not disconnect it from the wire harness? They changed the harness along with the coil packs? Being the 5th time as well, mabey you need to take the documentation they have, and find another dealer to work on the car. Different dealers can make a world of difference. I can understand staying with one, since they are familiar with the issue, but 5 times...jeez.

True, I might have to actually venture to the ............WESTSIDE and have them look at it...the reason I took it there was I bought it there, and it's only a couple blocks from my houseActually, since the warranty is almost up, after this I'm cutting off Pontiac and taking my car to the Toyota Dealership across the street, maybe they know how to work on their own engines

so they are sure there is not a problem with the wire to the one cylinder? I thought the Vibe didn't have wires, like the 2.4 engines in the Sunfire GTs and the Grand Ams but I could be wrong. I think they are just twisting your tail... there isn't much that can cause a missfire and it doesn't take long to change those parts with new ones and see what happens. You got another dealer in the area you can go to?

ok, well I just dropped off my car, and I went to the parts department, and I found out something, the wires don't have an actual part #. The part number is 999999999, so they can't even order them.......GAWD I HATE MY CAR
ok, so they tested the wires and came up with nothing.....they said they pulled the fuel pump out and it was in terrible shape, so they ordered another one...so tomarrow we'll see if the problem is still there
Well I got my car back today.... the dealer said they changed out the fuel pump along with the fuel pressure regulator. They said there was a piece of rubber in the regulator that must've floated into the outlet whenever I turned causing the misfiringI like my car again
