We did this at work one day, and I just thought it might be a fun thing to try here...Google your first and last name as an exact phrase (i.e. put it in quotation marks in the search box), and see what you come up with. How much of it is really about you? What are your namesakes up to? Are any of them famous? Infamous? Most of the results for my first and last name as an exact phrase are, indeed, me. Mostly my news articles...the spoils of being a reporter. I can also see some sites I've designed, posts I've made many many years ago on listservs, and a few posts I made on TechTV.com a couple of years ago. Only one is not me...the sister-in-law and family spokesperson of someone accused of murder. I guess that's a good thing or a bad thing, depending on if anyone is planning on stalking me...heh.So, what's your Google presence? What are your namesakes doing? What's on Google that you didn't even know was there?
Yep, I live a boring life. But since my name is Michael Fenton, the same name as the person who does casting for major films (E.T., I believe the Indiana Jones Trilogy, among many others) My results would be WAY down the list.
A bartender is just a pharmacist with a limited inventory.
I guess that's my advantage (or disadvantage) of having a weird name...apparently there are only two of us, and I'm the only one who ever does anything that gets googled. Heh.I didn't think my last name was *that* rare though.... Ratliff. Hmm.
I've tried that a few years ago. Most of what came up were either references, or actual posts to some usenet newsgroups when I used to be active on them. That was prior to popular usage of the internet by the general public, after which too many idiots got on to try to deliberately cause havoc which at that point rendered newsgroups useless to me.The Genvibe forum actually reminds me of the old days of the fun and helpful attitudes that were prevalent pre 1995 on usenet which is why I enjoy hanging out here.

That's part of the fun, though, seeing if your "alter ego" is an actor, or a lawyer, or a murder witness...haha. The city reporter found out she's really a 13-year-old cancer survivor who raises money for charities now. It's interesting what you'll find.Herb - I agree that things on this board are a lot like the internet used to be, before it got popular. I remember when chat rooms were nice places where you met nice people who actually wanted to have a conversation...not like now where the main conversation is "a/s/l" or "press 99999 if you want to cyber." I was a chat host on Prodigy Classic all the way up until they killed it using Y2K as an excuse in late 1999. I still think if they would have taken the time to update their software, they would have given AOL a run for its money. Anyway, we had fun in chat, and I have friends that I still talk to that I met on there. It's pretty cool.
My name, Earl Jones, comes up with thousands of hits for James Earl Jones, the actor. In the early days of the web, I used to get tons of e-mail from fans and others thinking they had found a contact for James Earl Jones.

I *used* to be able to search for my name using various search engines (before the days of Google) and would find some automotive message boards I posted to waaaay back when. Last year, you could google my name and the company I work for and it would find the mail server where I can log in and use web-based e-mail. But anymore, nothing. That's cool, let's keep it that way. I like being a nobody. (removed)

I first signed up when my parents got their IBM PS/1 in the early 90s...we had the ancient old DOS version of prodigy...god that was fun!
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
And it almost never changed, even when it went to Windows, the interface was still the same...Did you ever play a trivia game in P* chat? If so, I was probably there. God, I miss P* so much sometimes...
I've used "Cohocarl" for quite a few forums, and when I do a search for that, I bring up a few posts, epinion reviews, etc., total of 2 pages. "Rasermon" brings up 3 pages.
