Broken armrest

Post by ColonelPanic »

Today I was closing my the top portion of my armrest and heard some plastic falling down... Lifted it back up, and noticed that the latch had fallen out, and was sitting at the bottom of the armrest.I was hoping that it had just worked itself loose and I could just pop it back in again. Nope! After taking the armrest apart and retrieving the latch, I found the clips that hold it in place are broken. doh! Guess she's going back into the shop, again. Or, if anyone can give me the part number for this latch, if it is cheap enough, I may just buy one myself. Knowing GM though, I wouldn't be surprised if one must order the whole center console to get that 10 cent piece of metal and plastic. If I have to replace the entire armrest, I'm letting warranty take care of that...

The dealer ordered a part for this when the Vibe was still under factory warranty. It came in, but it just kinda sat there, I kept forgetting to mention it the few times I've been back since. Finally got it fixed today... Sure enough, I now have a completely new arm rest! Not just the latch. Wow.
