i'm a cyclist (road) and i've always wondered...doesn't that seat give you 'uncomfortable' areas around the ...(removed)?just curious...i've never known anybody who has one so i've never been able to try it out!

The whole bike is remarkably comfortable, including the seat. There is another seat available for it that is made from mesh fabric and looks alot like a regular chair. Go to easyracer.com for pics and info forum. The downside to recumbants in general is the fact that you can not stand up while going up hills, since I do alot of Mtn bike riding this probably bothers me more than other riders. There is also another handlebar option that places it under the seat, giving you a more natural posture (arms down).

i've seen the 'arms low' version of handlebar before and i know that would be more comfortable for me...my arm falls asleep if i hold it above my head in such a way (broken collarbones/separated shoulder issues) so i can't imagine riding with my arms up high like on your bike.the mesh seat might help aleviate heat build up but i was thinking more along the lines of rubbing and having that much surface contact with a seat while pedalling.I had this discussion (re: arguement) with my wife. She wanted a wider seat for her bike. I explained that the more material she is in contact with the worse the pain/chaffing/etc. will be. It may look plush and comfortable but you should aim to having the minimum amount of seat required before it's uncomfortable in the other other direction (too much of your weight on a small surface). So does sitting in a chair and the increased surface area contact get uncomfortable?

Yeah I wish I had the low bars, although mine aren't uncomfortable for me. Don't forget that womens bike seats are built a little wider for the diference in anotomy. The most comfortable seat I ever had came on a Volkscycle road bike (yep made by the German car co.) it was a small triangular piece of leather streched into a seat. After it was broken in to my backside it was great. I kept it for years till it dry rotted apart. lolI haven't tried the chair type seat, but everyone claims there great. I do have a coton terry cloth seat cover for the HOT Arizona summer rides.

i used to have a pair of Campagnolo shorts with the 'non-synthetic' chamois which did something similar to your volkscycle (never heard of those before!)i'd love to try a recumbant one day...just to answer my own questions....but that arizona heat is a dry heat so it can't be THAT bad!
