I have a 2004 Matrix and have had to have the CD/radio replaced. I was told not to use "burned" cd in the player. Anyone heard of this, they did replace the unit cause it's under warranty? I love my burned CD and now they tell me not to use them???????????????
If it plays, you can use it. Some CD players may not play all types and brands of "burned" CDs (the correct term is CD-R) so the makers just take the cowardly way out and tell you not to use any of them. Not because it will hurt your player in any way, but so they don't have to deal with the hassles when you come in and say, "It plays this one fine, but not THAT one, so it must be broken."

I have a 2004 Matrix and have had to replace the cd/radio. I was told not to use burned cd's in the player??? Anyone know why this is? I love my burned cd's. The player wouldn't eject the cd and then it wouldn't play either. So it was replaced under warranty. Any info would be appreciated.
You can use them in your player, but avoid any that have adhesive labels on them. CDs get pretty hot in these decks, and it can soften up the adhesive. I had one with a label on it, and left it in the player for a couple of hours, when I took it out the label was all wrinkled and buckled, and I could slide it around on the disk. Label them with a sharpie or some permanent marker, but avoid the stick on labels.
Well some recordable cds are thicker then others... oddly enough the cd player in my old 96 Sunfire GT would not play regular cds once I started using burned ones for about a year... It always showed an E-20 lasor code. It would play the burned ones just fine...but then like a few months before I sold the car for the Vibe it started playing regular cds again... by that time I had switched to Sony CD-R for burned cds to...

Welcome to Genvibe! I have an '03 Vibe with the factory 6-disc changer, and I've had no problems with any 'burned' CD's I've recorded on my computer CD-RW drive. In fact, I've only played one or two 'commercially recorded' CD's.I've also intentionally avoided applying labels to the ones for in-car listening, figuring that the heat of summer might cause them to come loose inside the unit.
