Button/Switch next to Tranny Shift Lever

Post by Capi502 »

I've had a 2004 Vibe for a month now -- it's great! While talking to another Vibe owner last night, the question came up about the small, round, "button" or "switch" that sits just to the right of the transmission shift lever. It's round and looks like it has four notches in it. I would say it's designed to accept a plug of some sort, but I really said "have no idea!" Does anybody know what this is? Haven't found anybody mentioning it yet. Just curious! THANKS!

If you have an auto trans, it is the shift lever lock bypass. By pressing it down it allows you to shift the transmission lever, even if the lever was placed into park and the car allowed to roll a little. the reason it looks so weird is that the button is missing...i guess alot of the dealer prep people don't know what it is either and it gets thrown away(it comes not installed). If you have a manual trans...i have no idea.

Awesome, mystery solved! I still have a bunch of "stuff" in the glove box, so maybe it's in there. I'll take a look. Thanks!
