Firefox and Profile...

Post by ragingfish »

Ok. Maybe it's just me.Firefox has become my primary browser. Every time I go to My Profile at the top, and then try to go to Personal Profile, my browser hangs. I can do this through IE with no problem. Only Firefox seems affected.Anyone else experience this? Any thoughts as to the cause?

I had some problems with it not saving changes to my profile. Particularly when dealing with the new larger text scheme. I wound up having to clear my cookies and that problem went away. I've not had it hang though, that's a little unusual. Are you running the latest revision of Firefox?

0.9.2 is the latest. Might want to try it. I had some major stability problems with 0.9.1 on my machine at work. Just be sure to uninstall 0.9.1 before installing 0.9.2. As long as you don't delete the folder, you won't lose your profile.

Nah, didn't work.Uninstalled 0.9.1 and installed 0.9.2, still hangs. Oh well, no browser can be perfect I suppose. Just wish I knew what about that one page was so troublesome for it.

I've been running 0.92, and use the larger text scheme, and have had no problems with it. The profile page doesn't hang my browser

You may want to check the browser settings, I don't know about firefox but IE and Opera will be a pain on some pages if you don't have your settings just right, but looking at the page you are having trouble with, it doesn't seem like you should have any troubles. Try rearranging your cookie settings to prompt you before accepting any cookies, this way, if it prompts you to see if it's cool to get the cookie you can say yes and see if that works. Basically, in so many words, your settings may not allow you to download a cookie you need for that page because you would be accepting a new cookie or at least changing a current cookie due to a settings change.

Since I upgraded to FF 1.0PR, the problem seems to have gone away.
