Rental Car Blues

Post by Reynoma »

Because my GT has been out-of commission since my incident with the deer ($2,500 worth of damage), my insurance company is paying (up to $30 per day) for a rental car. The most car I could get was a "mid-size" from Enterprise for that money. They gave me a Dodge Status. This has got to be the worst car I have ever driven. Slow as anything, plus the engine runs real rough. Very cheap plastic interior..no CD player, just a tape. The worst thing of all was that it was parked outside my church on Tuesday during our VBS, and somebody stole one of the hubcaps off! Dodge wants $75 for a new one. Ebay sellers want $20+shipping for a knock-off or $40 for one OEM. I went to Target and got a set of "Car and Driver" wheelcovers for $15.99...do you think they will notice? I hope not. I cannot wait until I can drive my baby again. It pains me to see it sitting in my garage until I can get it to the body shop (this Saturday). I don't know how long they are going to have it. I'm also curious to see if the insurance company covers my aftermarket hood deflector. Thanks for listening to my rant...I just don't like this Dodge!

Im guessing you didnt get the R/T model 2.7-liter V6 engine, 200 HP @ 5,800 RPM that sucks. Hope you get the Vibe back soon!

It's prolly a fleight car. Meanin, something for the consumer to get around. Nothing flashy. Like he said, no CD player. Come on, almost every car nowdays comes with a CD player. Inder Singh

my last rental was a stratus also...it was about a week after getting my vibe.same impressions...there is NO WAY i would ever buy this car. even with the bigger engine. the layout inside is horrible (mine had a CD player) the driver's position in the car is annoying and i don't like the outide looked.but that's just my opinion of the piece of crap!
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!

I finally got my car back from the body shop (no hood guard yet, should be here on Thursday). It feels sooo good to be back in the Vibe. Anybody who starts to get a little tired of their Vibe, I would highly suggest renting something else for a week (I had this p-o-s rental for 4 weeks!) and you will be so glad to get back into the Vibe.BTW, when I get my hood guard installed, I'm going to have the body shop repaint my gray pinstripe to match my grafxwerks decals (yellow).
