Greetings from Colorado

Hey all...Checking in from Colorado. Was quite an experience getting here. The plane sat on the tarmac for over an hour because they kept changing our flight plan due to inclement weather out west. Finally got here, and got my rental. I had been told on the phone I could have a Cavalier (preferred) or a Kia (acceptable), but when I arrived, they had none. I had paid for an economy model, but I guess they rented them all, so they kept offering various classes of models, of course, as free upgrades. So they first offered me a caravan. I was like (removed) am I gonna do wtih THAT? Then they tried to pawn off a Ram on me. Yeah, I said no again. Ended up with an Intrepid. Honestly, not THE WORST car I ever drove, but I'd definitely prefer to be behind the wheel of the General. This is quiet, and has some nice attributes (the trunk is MASSIVE!), but overall, it seems unresponsive. The car has just under 20000 miles on it, and at idle, vibrates pretty violently. Also has a huge crack in the windshield from top to bottom. Doesn't say much for the way Advantage Rent A Car maintains their vehicle.Needless to say, for $28.63 a day, this car is a nice free upgrade. I'm driving out to Vail, Breckenridge, and Boulder tomorrow. We'll see how the car works on a longer trip...Anyway, just wanted to give a quickie review of a DCX product.As an aside, I can't get over how rural this place is, even in Denver! I always thought my part of Jersey was rural, but my god, I was wrong. This ranks up there with Calgary! That's ok though, I love it!Have planned much picture-taking, so I'll get some albums going as soon as I get some!So far though, I love this place!

Hey welcome to my neck of the woods, How long will you be in Co? Any specific reason youre here? Dont go to Casa Bonita, the cliff divers are cool, but the food is TERRIBLE! Hope you enjoy yourself, even though its a little rainy this summer. -Late

awww. i used to LOVE casa bonita! when i was little we'd go for our birthday. and i loved the cool glow necklaces and run thru the little stores or what not that they have. watch the cliff divers... food seemed pretty good to me, but then again i was like 9!

That's ok though, I love it!Have planned much picture-taking, so I'll get some albums going as soon as I get some!So far though, I love this place!mike, you don't know what rural is my friend! you ever come visit, i'll take you to bethel or atquasuk. then you will know what RURAL is! denver is anything but rural. the setting is nice against the outskirts of the mts, garden of the gods is also cool and not too far. i went to school first semester at pikes peak community college in co springs. not too bad, but still too many people for me. traffic was a pain. go to portland. you get into the city and it's crazy, then drive south on 99 for aobut 20 miles and you're in vineyards and beautiful countryside. here, you go to anchorage and drive outside the city, you will see miles of mts.. both directions. or the cook inlet. both really... it's beautiful. who wants to see nothing but manmade buildings? yuck!

haha a caravan? exactly, (removed) would you do with that? but hey a rental is like a prostitute, everyone has had a ride and more then one of them drove her hard. ^^Yeah... if you ever end up in Alaska, don't let a road out of your sight or your lost forever.

I agree, Denver is anything but rural. Especially in attitude. Not to affend anybody in that neck of the woods, but they are some of the rudist and worst drivers I've ever been around. Rural is where I live. We have to travel 100 miles to do any kind of meaningful shopping. Granted we have a walmart now so we don't have to go 100 miles ever other week.If you want rural take highway 20 or highway 2 across nebraska.

i knew why.but they let you take pics?? usually they tell you you can't. of course then again, i took some video of the rides at the theme park in canada and i wasn't supposed to.

Never had a chance to give a quick wrapup.Aside from my crappy rental car, Colorado was AMAZING. So much so, it has moved to the top of my list of places I'd like to move to -- hopefully sooner than later.The scenery was amazing, the people were welcoming, the place was downright unreal.Colorado -- you rock!!!All pictures here: http://photos.ragingfish.com/colorado

Colo. DOES rock. If you saw an Envy Vibe, it was probably me.... And yes, your comments about worst drivers ever is absolutely accurate. Denver drivers are absolutely horrible. And what's this about rural? Denver's pretty cosmopolitan...of course, out East is pretty rural with the farms and whatnot, but even the mountains aren't that provincial. But glad you had a good time.

hey Raging. Sorry I didn't check this board while I was in Denver and CO Springs. I was there the same time you were, and got back yesterday. I really liked Denver, and may begin a job search to move there. On my last day, I went to Red Rocks State Park. I also enjoyed taking the family up Pike's Peak, and got to go to Invesco Field for an international soccer match. Otherwise, I was stuck in a training course all week. The people were really friendly (I think I was the craziest driver on the road), Denver was very clean, and the one foot hail storm was a bonus

when my father retired from the air force back in 97, we were stationed at peterson afb, in colo springs. there was a place in Denver that wanted him so bad, they offered to pay him $10K more than any other offer he'd get. but we all wanted to move back to alaska and he got a very good job back in Anchorage. colorado was beautiful, but it pales compared to alaska. sorry folks. i've lived there 3 times now, and spent my first semester in college in the springs. and i will attest to the crazy (removed) drivers there! i think that's how i learned how to drive so aggressively. first week and i got ran off the road twice!
