looking at what i hate....motocycles..

i dont knwo why i started hating them, but i have for the longest time, harleys are ok, but the truth is there amazing bang for the buck, and although i consider them something different then a car, theres one rumor about them that id like to crush, th erumor that for such a "high speed" vehicle theyu have really good accelerationin actuallity they are not tuned for high speeds in comparison to cars with similar power ot weight ratios, lets take a bike and rider at about 500 pounds, with about 100hp, give them a .2 power to weight ratio, about the same as a 3000 pound 600 hp car, like the ferrari F50, now that motorcyle(one very similar in which im talking about) is claimed ot do 1/4miles in about 10 seconds were as the ferrari can do it in only about 11.5, heres one key thing, the bike tops out at 175 were as the ferrari tops out at 205, so in my opinion these bikes are not tuned for high speed but acceleration, atleast for there power to weight ratioi hate bikes

You try going 175MPH on a bike and then 205 in the car. Then tell me which feels faster. Everything feels so much faster on a bike. I love riding motorcycles. There is just something about it that words can't describe.

ditto that. one ride on the back and I was hooked. I still have no concept of speed. I'll be going 30mph and it feels like 50mph. 70-80mph on a highway reminds me of mach 1 on my bike.

Top speed is a direct result of horsepower and aerodynamics. More horsepower and less drag equal greater top speed. A 3000-lb car with 600 hp has much more horsepower and better aerodynamics than a 100-hp bike and rider. Weight has little effect on top speed. However, weight (and the hp to weight ratio) has alot to do with acceleration. This is why a 100-hp bike can accelerate as quickly as a 600-hp car but can't top speed it.

I owned one of those for a while - cranked it up to an indicated 180 once. Hot DAM that was fun!!! Made a life changing impression on me (not literally, didn't crash - I'm writing this aren't I?)I actually felt safer on that bike at 180 than I do on a car at 110. Something about having that much weight traveling that fast gives me the willys. The stress on the components is compounded by the weight = much greater chance of mechanical failure.

I have only been riding for a couple of months and I can hardly keep myself from just blowing every paycheck. Being on a motorcycle is such a raw visceral experience. Every day is like a drag race to work even thought I rarely top 65 mph. I have a six mile journey to and from work and I have been putting 150 miles a week on my Buell. I ride it every chance I get. Also, having the bike has saved me the hassle of bumming a ride now that my Vibe is in the shop with deer damage.
