Dash Lights Die?

Post by ganderso »

Got a bit of a problem with my new Vibe and I'm wondering if anybody has had the same. Drove the car off the dealer lot and not more than 2 blocks away the whole dash console (speedo, tach etc) went totally black. Did a U-Turn and went back to the dealer. Turned the car off and when the salesman came out and turned the car on they worked again! Of course the salesman thought I didn't know how to use the dimmer switch He said if it happens again they'll look into it. It happened again this afternoon whilst driving down the street and I'm thinking of taking it in but if anybody has experienced this I was hoping I could tell the dealer about it and get my awesome Vibe out of the garage a little sooner! Thanks

If the Twilight Sentinel (sensor that detects day/night and turns on Headlamps automatically) turns ON, the headlamps will turn ON and your dash lights will dim as if it was night. If you encounter the problem again and can safely pull off the road, make sure your Dimmer Switch is set to the SOLID LINE position (right in the middle of the dial). This will turn your dash lights to the maximum intensity. This way you can see if the lights are just too dim to see and need turned up, or if there is a problem with the dash lights themselves.I would lean more towards the Twilight Sentinel dimming the dash lights at inappropriate times. This is due to the poor location of the sensor on the upper left side of the dash. This has been a widely discussed annoyance pertaining to this feature.Unfortunately at this time, there is no way to turn off this feature without doing your own modifications.Let us know.
