I've recently experienced a problem with my Vibe. It's been making a noise for the past two months or so, but I haven't had the time to take it in the shop yet.Anyway, whenever I apply the break, there is a clicking sound that appears to be coming from the console area. The harder I apply the breaks, the faster the clicking noise is. It directly has something to do with the breaking and the speed of the car, as when I am breaking and the car comes to a stop, the clicking stops.Sometimes it makes the noise, sometimes it doesn't. It's not the ABS system either, as I do not have ABS. Can anyone shed some light on this problem and if it would be covered by my waranty??Thanks!

I use it for tokens and change for tolls and sometimes here the change clicking when I brake or accelorate
No, there's not. Actually, the only storage compartment I keep things is in the glove box and the console between the two front seats. The noise sounds like it's coming directly from the center of the console, in the stereo/heat control/gear shift area.

I have a noise that comes from that area, but only occasionally. Can you press firmly against any of those areas (climate controls, shifter area, silver bezel covering the radio) while it is making those noises and have it go away?Maybe some of the plastic is loose and/or moving around or rubbing against other plastic?
Also, what type of Stereo system do you have? Do you still have the factory CD-Player or an aftermarket system? There were a few people that have mentioned a flaw in the radio deck CD-player making rubbing noises when braking.I mention this being you said it was coming from that general area. I can't seem to find any specific posts using Search on this however, if someone can find them I would appreciate it.
Nick is on the right track. If you have the single disc cd, a noise on braking could be the cd arm hittng the cd. Try it without a cd in the radio. Has been posted before, could need an updated radio.
Well I recently took my Vibe to a Circuit City and had an FM Modulation XM Radio unit installed. They obviously had to take the stereo out to do some work in the back and since then, it hasn't been making that noise (even with a CD in it). I had made an appointment with my dealership to check it out, but since it hasn't been making the noise, I cancelled it.
