Price too high for hybrid

Post by Caretaker »

Ford released the price for the Escape hybrid today. $26k+ for the 2wd model. That's way too rich for my blood. Here's the press release:http://media.ford.com/article_...trustOnce I saw that, I went and bought a Maxx today. At $7k more than I paid for the Maxx, there is no way I could ever make up the difference in gas savings over time. Sorry Ford. I think you've made a big mistake at that price. The Highlander hybrid will cost only a couple of thousand more than the 4wd Escape hybrid ($28k+). Anybody who can afford this will likely gravitate towards the Toyota.

Unfortunatly that is why nobody is really buying them. For the most part they are very expensive when compared to the vehicles in their size class, and most of the time they are ugly. If they ever want these vehicles to do well they need to find a way to make them cheaper and try to put them in a more stylish package. There are only a handfull of hybrids in Iowa City, and this town is full of tree-hugging hippies.

I'd like to see some pics of your maxx and to hear your thoughts about the car so far...
