Just installed my Infinity Basslink X. It sounds great and looks pretty good in the hatch. Takes up minimal space. I still need to mount my bass control knob in the dash...I'll post an updated pic when I'm done with that.
I love how you ran the cables...clever!!! Do you run a stock radio?

I simply spliced the wires into the amp speaker inputs. Very simple. The cables go into that storage compartment, then I ran them through one of the child-seat anchor covers. I simply removed the cover and didn't have to drill any. I cut a slit into the mat, but when the cables are removed, the slit should disappear.I had to drill two screws into the plastic, but I only put the two rear ones in and they only went into the storage cover, which should be much cheaper to replace then the whole hatch cover. Plus, if I unlock the compartment, I can remove the subwoofer.Quote, originally posted by NSimkins »Looks good! I've been considering one of those as well. What's your opinion on the sound? It sounds great to me. It hits hard enough to shake the mirrors, but it is really not made for that. Not quite as "tight" as a sealed box, but it integrates well into my system and really has a quality sound to it. The remote bass adjustment is very handy! I love it!
Very nice install! (Coming from an installer, I hope that's good!)Very clean, and it's a good pick! We generally use those basslinks in Escalades and Expeditions, so it should be perfectly suited to give extra "oomph" in the Vibe. Like you said, not mirror shaking, but definitely helpful!

Thanks for the compliments. I am very pleased with how it turned out.I'm debating whether I should change my headunit. I paid alot for that 6-disc changer, but I really want an MP3 player. I've been thinking about this Pioneer FH-P5000MP player. It is a double-din unit. Any suggestions? I really like your Sony, Pscho. It is a little out of my price range right now, though.

frostyGT, I've been pricewatching BassLinks for a couple of months now. I've never seen a translucent casing before - is that a new model? I'm glad to hear about the sound, "can-shake-the-windows-but-you-don't-have-to" is exactly what I'm looking for.As for the install, I'm considering removing the spare (if you know me well, you know I'll be calling roadside before jacking up the car myself ) and putting the Basslink in there, perhaps in some kind of custom enclosure. Did you consider that type of install at all?
It is kinda new...It's called the Basslink X. The only difference that I know of is the color and price. Although it cost about $30 more, it looks much better in my Vibe, esp with the white grills...IMHO Although I thought about the spare, I would never remove the spare tire from any of my cars. Just a personal thing... However, I don't think that this speaker would work there anyway. For one thing, I don't think it will fit. Even if it does though, you will need to remove the rear deck, or at least vent it. I don't think this speaker will perform well if it was sealed under the deck. I'm not a sound engineer, though. Maybe some of our experts can enlighten us Just my $0.02... Here is a link to a Basslink X on Ebay:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...&rd=1
The clear model is the Basslink X, which is Infinity's latest version (about a year old now). Here's the original black BasslinkI am not sure what the differences are, besides appearance and price. Here is a great comparison by Crutchfield Advisor of the Infinity's Basslink vs Kenwood's wOOx (why did Kenwood name it the "wOOx" anyway?)

Did you consider that type of install at all?Nah, the Basslink won't do too well in the spare compartment. It's designed to work freestanding in the back area..I'm pretty sure the difference is just the tranclucent casing...

Thanks for all the feedback you guys, I really appreciate it. I guess that nixes that idea! I won't hijack the thread asking for alternative suggestions to putting the Basslink in the spare tire compartment, so I'll start my own sometime soon. From what I could tell on the Infinity product page there isn't much difference but I think that's more out of ignorance (in that I can't tell the difference) than anything else.
Frosty, where did you tie into for the speaker level inputs? I was just wondering where the easiest place is to tap into the wiring..The cructchfield advisor really liked the basslink and the woox. The woox may make a good choice for the Vibe. I was set on the basslink but now Im having second thoughts.

I tied into the speaker inputs into the amp. Attached is a pic, and you can see the splice I used.If you like the wOOx, then go for it. It doesn't offer enough bass for me, but you can only really tell by listening to it. I recommend finding a shop that has them both set-up and do a comparison before you buy.
I have a basslink as well...it bumps. I have mine laid down though...it wasn't sturdy enough to stand up while I corner in the GT.I would suggest a basslink for anyone who wants a bass sound but doesn't necessarily want a box or if they don't know too much about audio equipment. Plus, it's SO cute. I have the Basslink X as well...most people don't believe it's a little sub. If you tweak it right though, your mirrors will rattle.

I really want to get one. That would get rid of my HUGE bandpass box with 2 10s It takes up almost the entire hatch. I would love to be able to mount them in the same spots as the 2005 sub but that would take a (removed) load of work that I don't have time for.

is that fastened securely with only two screws?im installing my basslink tomorrow and im not too sure if i should use all 4 and use a bolt bracket beneath the plastic as a solution?
hey frosty i think i may try to snag a basslink after reading this forum...any chance you know where the other end of that power cord going through the firewall is?? and do you think this will fit under the drivers seat?
You can buy my Basslink for $150. Come by my place and I'll help you install it where I had it. I have everything to put it back.Absolutely no chance of this fitting under the driver's seat. Only option besides the hatch is the passenger floor and that would be kinda silly.
yeah that would be nice. I was looking to get a black one so it would be a little less noticable to prying eyes (parinoia) and i had found a refurbished one for 100, but it prob. be around 20 to ship, so im sure the previous install knowledge will speed things up. I had to re-sell the dvd player i had planned on puting in it do to an immediate computer replacement need, which brings me to my next snag. I have this whole week off from school, which means i am free whenever, but i dont get my next student loan check until monday so i may not have all of the cash until then...just let me know thanks again
