4th gear problem

I have a 5 speed Vibe,and i have some problem with my 4th gear.When i'm accelerating i can put it easly to 4th from 3rd.But sometimes when i want to put it back to 4th from 5th i can't.And it is not my first car with a standard transmission.So i know the problem is not with me is something with the tranny.Did somebody had same problem or heard somthig like that.I realy can use some help.I just wanted to ask you guys before i call my dealer.Thanx!

MrRich: My 5 speed is a joy I haven't had any problems doing what you described. I was actually playing with shifting between 4th and 5th testing the hill climbing with cruise control on the weekend and had no trouble finding 4th.When you are in 5th, pull back straight back and let go, does the shifter move left on its own with the spring or do you have to push it?When the tranny is in nuetral does it settle in between 3rd and 4th? I had that same very problem when I first got my vibe. IN my 2 previous cars, both Jetta's, to downshift to 4th It was almost a straight down pull into 4th. But on my Vibe I actually have to move it over towards the 3-4 gear more than I had to in my Jetta's.After some grinding and missed shifts, it took me about 2 days to get used to it and now its fine. Give it time you'll get used to it. If not, take it to the dealer and have them check it out, after all, thats what warranty is for.Good luck!
