I just went sailing with a local sailing club (www.scow.org) for the first time tonight. I've been wanting to get into sailing and I may finally do it. It was pretty cool. We sailed a small 16' boat I think. I'm learning a lot, the only sailing experience I have is with my R/C sailboat which still helps with the basics. Anyone else into sailing? Anyone towing a small sailboat or other boat with their Vibe?Later,

I was on a large old sailboat when I vacationed to Virginia Beach a few years ago. They use it for tours. We sailed around the Chesapeake Bay in that area and got to see the Naval Base at Norfolk on it. It was a very nice tour. I think that sailing would be nice to get into sometime, but for now I hardly have time to ride my waverunner.

I may have gone on the same boat you're talking about back when I went camping in VA beach in 2001. It toured all those places, was a nice sail.p.s. Can moderators fix my title to take off the ju typo? thanks.

I used to tow my waverunner (about 700 lbs) with my Mustang and I could really feel it. The Vibe has way less torque so I'm worried that I wouldn't be able to start out on some of the hills around here if I towed it. Plus the fact that some of the GT's have been wearing out clutches very prematurely. I've been looking into getting a 1978 Bonneville (my dad had one when I was little and I loved that car) with a 400ci engine for a car to play around with the engine. That should tow the waverunner with no problem.

I am a water baby! My ex and I used to sail a hobie 16. It was too hard on her so we bought a Holder 20 with the idea that she could drink a glss of wine while sailing. Ha! I had that thing heeling over all the time. She had to hang on for dear life! Later we lived on a man made lake and I sailed a snark by my self. I finally ripped the sails on it and gave up on it. I still have a jet ski parked in my garage. Love that water. Of all the water toys I had the most fun was the Hobie 16. Flying a hull is a magical experience!- Unless you are on a beam reach and bury the hull. The boat dumps in a split second. If you get a chance go for a ride on a Catamaran. They are the hot rods of sail boats! I could get rooster tails behind the rudders.
Sounds like a lot of fun. I love the water too, the funny thing is, I can't really swim. Not a very good combination, but I really make sure I have my life jacket on when I go kayaking. Those Hobies look cool, I'll definitely need to ride one sometime. I'm actually thinking about joining the Coast Guard, going to OCS (Officer Candidate School) to become an officer. They would definitely teach me how to swim there. I'm talking to a recruiter on Tuesday.
