The Last Ride

Post by ragingfish »

The Last RideWednesday, June 2nd, 8pm/7pm Central, on USA Networkhttp://www.pontiac.com/tlr/Quote »Starring: Dennis Hopper, Will Patton, Chris Carmack, Fred Ward, and the new Pontiac GTOWhen his wife is killed in a botched heist, notorious bank robber Ronnie Purnell (Dennis Hopper) surrenders to the police. Sentenced to a hefty prison term, he's forced to put his young son Aaron in the care of a back-stabbing freind by the name of Darryl Kurtz -- who actually engineered Purnell's arrest. Thirty years later, a newly freed Purnell is back on the streets looking for revenge - and his old getaway car, a 1969 GTO that holds the key to his redemption. Aaron (Will Patton) is now a clean-cut cop struggling to make sure his own son, Matt (Chris Carmack) steers clear of the criminal lifestyle he's been flirting with. But despite Aaron's best efforts to keep grandpa and grandson apart, Matt can't resist getting involved with Ronnie's plot to take down the man who set him up all those years ago. Nailing Kurtz and finding the vintage car means they'll have to race against the clock, the L.A.P.D. and a private security force. But in the hot new 350-horsepower 2004 GTO they just ripped off, they've got the drive to win.Seen the previews, looks pretty damn sweet! Also, go to the above link to register to win a 2004 GTO. WOOOOO!

Ok, so far, the Pontiac/GM sponsorship couldn't be any more blatantly obvious.I've seen a:Chevy SUV of some sort...CaddyGrand Prix cop car69 GTOFirebirdBonnevilleVibe04 GTOGMC pickupan Aveoand a reference to an eclipse as a "rice burner." This flick rocks.

I thought it was a great idea for product placement, a huge issue in the automotive industry.

I agree, not too bad of a movie. Would have been nice if their was a larger amount of GTO footage. The three minute chase just wasn't enough action for me.

I attended a local (Bay City Mi.) car show today sponsored by BeCool (local) and Pontiac. There was hundreds (700+) of vintage cars along with the two GTO's that was used in the movie.Pic 1

Thanks! I just love old-school GTO's! I'll have to tape it & fast-forward to the GTO scenes.
