During the monsoons we had in Indiana the last few days my wife's floorboard got SOAKED!SO, my wife cleaned it and shop-vac'd it out and then when she was out driving she had the AC on...you could see it dripping onto the floor...it actually runs across the top of the carpet for a bit...before it soaks in.Has anyone else had the AC drain plug up? I assume that that is what happened here. Thanks!
Is this a new vibe?you said during the rain it leaked alot , a clogged a/c drain plug would only leak a little from condensation.does it leak when you go through the car wash?personally i think it might be the air vent under the cowl not seated completely, a lot of water will enter the A/C unit if the vent isn't seated. does your vibe have a sun roof? if so it might be the drain hose for the sun roof not draining out the right side.just my $.02
It's a 04 Vibe...bought in Aug. of last year. This is the first Water we've had in the pass. floorboard. You can tell the water is coming from over by the center console. I looked up under the dash last night and it has a drain location on what I presume is the heater box. I expect the exterior drain is plugged or partially plugged...thus it is now leaking inisde...I would think that condensation would be proportional to the humidity level outside...I live in Humid Indiana...and it's been very humid lately...so it might be that. Hell, I crawled under my IROC last night and there was condensation dripping off of everything....
"Humid Indiana" thats a good one, did you sea the fish swim by the other day . hey, maybe the air filter let something by it and it is clogging the drain valve, I would be interested in what is the problem. please let us know.
This happened to me as well. However nothing was plugged up. The hose that drains water out of the AC unit came loose and instead of the water going out through the firewall, it ended up on my rubber floormat. To fix it, I had to pull the carpet back an inch or two and reattach the rubber hose. It should just be dangling there, so give it a look.
That is exactly what happened. Either myself or someone else my wife was transporting got their foot up there and pulled it off. I was rinse-n-vacking it last night and found the problem and fixed it. I bet I vac'd about a gallon of water out of the front and rear footwell!
Oddly enough mine was off when I checked to see why I had water on my floorboard, too, the other day. Is this a pretty common thing? Seems like a bit of tape might be in order to hold that hose together.
