Trouble getting radio trim removed

Post by toddr5 »

I am trying to remove the radio on my 2004 Vibe. I am having trouble removing the large silver plastic trim that surrounds the radio. Is there some trick or does it just pull out without removing anything else the way it looks. I do not want to break something so I appreciate someone who can help me.

It's sort-of a trick, but it's also because it's never been removed, so the clips are REALLY tight.Grab along the bottom edge and carefully pull straight out. The whole thing should come out about an inch, then you need to angle the bottom out, as the top supports have little "hooks" that hook into the top. Usually at this point you need to remove the A/C control by carefully pulling at the tabs at the top and bottom of the controls. The switches at the top (hazard, defrost, passenger light) can simply be unplugged.
