Installed FIAMM Freeway Blaster horns today

Post by Stang2Vibe »

I finally got rid of the dinky whimpy little sissy horn today that has been bothering me since I bought the car. I just did a search and noticed that MadBill installed pretty much the same setup as I did, but he changed his over a year ago.The changeover was very easy, no drilling required. I wired two horns (high and low tone) in series and "piggybacked" them. Mounted up the low tone horn just like the stock one then mounted the high tone to the low tone one. Only had to modify the high tone bracket a little to make it fit. Just hammered it flat then bent it with slip-joint pliers to make it work. The only part that wasn't included with the horns was a 4 inch jumper wire that I made with some 18 gauge wire to send power from one horn to the other. The horns came with extra spade clips, so I used one of those and except for the little bit of creative rigging that I had to do, installation was a snap. Of course I removed the grilles to allow easy access to the horn area. Sounds MUCH better now, I drove around a bit tonight blowing the horn every once in a while when there was no traffic around because I was so happy to not have to hear that whimpy little horn anymore!

If you listen very carefully, you might be able to hear one of the tones "carry" a bit better than the other. Last time I used my Hella's as a demonstration, i'd swear the hi-tone lasted a split-second longer than the low. It was great.I now have my stock horn hanging on the wall in my apartment... No idea why, just seemed funny!
