Got my Vibe II

Post by rlong97150 »

I was starting to sweat a little because I have an appt tomorrow for the window tinting (made it the day I ordered the Vibe 2 months ago) and I leave again for Virginia on Sunday. I spend 2 weeks a month in our Virginia office and the rest of the time in my home office in Illinois. My business pays my mileage so at 37.5 cents a mile I will really be ahead of the game. Picked it up late this afternoon with 3 miles on the ticker.Anyways for the details:04 Base Vibe - Satellite5 speed (for the Mileage)Security PackagePower Package16 inch wheelsNets, cargo mat, bumper protector, bra, sport mats, and rear mud flapsGot some pics of it before the tint and I will post them along with some once the windows are done. Window tinting shouldn't be to bad, my car survived it. Definatly show some pics of the ride, she sounds like a beauty.

Haha, was'nt sweating the tint job. I was sweating getting the Vibe in time. Was supposed to be in two weeks ago leaving plenty of time for break in and tinting. Rolled into the dealership around noon today for a tint job tomorrow morning and a 1100 mile road trip in the next 10 days. Bob

Hi Bob...You have an IM....BTW, you gonna up-size the wheels/tires? You know, I got the Vibe over the Focus because it seemed every 3rd car I saw on the road was a Focus. Kinda don't like having something everyone else has. Now last night driving down Gilbert after coming from Micky D's and there was a Satellite Vibe.... right behind it was another. On my way home from shopping today, I'm like 2 blocks behind a Fusion and when I turn into my driveway, I see another Abyss turn onto my street! UGH! I still think I have the only GT in town. The dealer sold a 2-tone Abyss GT but I think it was to someone out of town. I just wanted to be different!!!Dave

Thanks for the IM Dave, I think its going to be a toss up until I get there but am leaning back towards the 20 on the backs and 50 up front to give a little more security and make the fronts appear lighter. I am not going to change the wheels since I upgraded to the 16 inch aluminums. It did come with the Conti's though so I will likely change those before winter. My guess is I will have 20k on it by the end of the year. I know what you mean about the Vibe. I hadnt seen another around here (other than at the dealers) until I went past the old Big R the other night and there was a Fusion base for sale in the lot. I think there is only one other Vibe and 1 Matrix in Hoopeston. For a town of 5000, thats about rightBob

Hey Bob,Let us know what you went with and post pics if you can. I am a little over a month away from my Vibe turning 1. So, is it 1 year old from when you get it or when it rolls off the assembly line? hmmm... Anywho, I had the Dunlops (Summer tire) changed em out for ContiExtremeContacts. If you're interested in a good higher performance all season tire, I would consider these. Another good tire is the Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S but I don't know where locally you can get it (Sears maybe but it might be more expensive than say a Discount Tire type place). My Conti's are wearing well. Have about 13k on em now with 1 trip to SC. I should easily be able to get 3x more miles out of em... Which will probably be up to the Fall of 2005. I'll more than likely go with the Pirelli's then, unless Conti stiffens the side-walls or I upsize the wheels. Have a safe trip to the East coast. I'll be heading back to SC in August. The Vibe sure does make the drive fun. Dave

What type of tint did you decide to go with? I got Llumar mirror tint on mine. Welcome and congrats on your ride, you'll have to post some pics of it ^^

I really wish I was allowed to tint my windows in my state. I may try to apply for a medical exemption so I can legally tint my windows.

Here is one post tint with the bra on as well. The tint is just normal tinting and its 35% on the back five windows and 50% on the DS and PS. DS and PS tinting is illegal in Illinois but as long as you only go 50%, you should be ok. Cost me 219.00 and there isnt an imperfection to be found. We have a local gal that does really good workThanksBob

Welcome! Looks really nice! I've been contemplating between the "factory" level of tint or limo (6%). Do you notice any visibility problems at night? In Alberta we're not allowed to tint the driver's or passenger's side windows.

Hi Bob,Looks nice . Is that a Pontiac Bra or an aftermarket? Ya know, I'm still seeing Vibes everywhere I go. Mostly on Route 1 though. It's almost like the local dealer was giving them away.Dave
