just wondering if anyone had any probs with after painting their calipers? like the paint flaking off and gouging the pads and/or rotors. i'm getting ready to paint mine and i had some friends tell me about this happening to them.

As long as you don't get paint on the caliper sliders or on the surface of the rotors you should be fine. If you have a strong durable paint, just make sure the calipers are clean and maybe a light sanding before you put them on. Took me all of 5 mins to paint mine while others here make it a all day task.

Make sure you use paint that can withstand the heat- there are special spray paints that are heat rated and work very well on brakes as long as you tape and cover everything that can not get painted up

I painted my calipers with the G2 paint kit and I haven't had any problems with them at all. Two coats of the paint and they look awesome. I would definitely recommend the kit to anyone looking to paint their calipers. Check out my other thread for pics: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=6177

The G2 paint kit is quite good- I have heard good things about it, I have always used Krylon Spray paint (the heat tested kind) and never had a problem- I think mine look really good and it only cost me $5

What's the best way to protect from over spray when using the spray paint? Did you cover up the discs? Is there any part of the caliper you need to avoid getting paint on? I want to paint mine red sometime. Thanks,

I use masking tape and paper towel to protect everything- in the open area of the caliper I put paper towel in there, and tape around the nuts and bolts, it you get any paint on the rotor use a brake rotor cleaner to get it off
