The Survey?

Post by chaotic_amber »

Ok, when I was at the dealership checking out the Vibe a month or so back I was told at least three times about the Survey they would be sending out. I was even shown a laminated copy of this all important Survey. Then, about a week after purchasing my Vibe I got a letter advising me that 'Very soon we will be mailing you a survey.'Ok, I took the survey when it arrived, no big deal. Now I just got a postcard telling me that my survey was sent out a few weeks ago and that if I would please take a few minutes to fill it out etc etc...WHAT THE F*** IS UP WITH THE SURVEY? I am just waiting for the midnight phone call..."Chance...Chance...we are watching you...have you filled out your survey yet? Fill out the survey and nobody gets hurt!"Does my Vibe explode if I don't fill out the survey? They are pushing me harder to fill out the survey than they did when I was looking to buy my Vibe.

That survay is the sale's mans report card and is very important to GM to see how well you were or were not you treated. Fill it out and mail it back. Same with service warranty work, you may recieve a survay, do the same, only takes a minute of your time.

Not only did I get a survey from the dealer and from GM, but I also received a phone call from GM asking me about my car. Kind of weird, but if that's what they need to do to make their improvements, then they can ask me anything about my car.

I did fill out the survey and gave a good rating, the only negative comment I had was that when I asked to test drive an AWD I was told 'Sure no problem' then taken on an extended tour of the parking lot only to find that they didn't have an AWD there. I had to wait a half an hour for them to run out and grab one from another lot. Now with only three styles (Base, AWD, GT) how hard should it be to keep at least one of each on hand at a decent sized lot?My comment was more on how hard they are pushing the survey. Do they really need a letter telling me that one will be sent, then another letter telling me that it was sent? After having mentioned it (with visual aids) several times at the dealership?

They are just trying to encourage people to give feedback. If they don't push it, they probably don't get many back unless its from a few highly disgruntled people venting away. They need a good response that is representative of how all buyers feel, not just the angry ones. My grandfather received a piece of luggage with a smaller bag containing a road atlas and first aid kit when he returned the survey for the Buick he had bought.

I didn't fill out my survey so I hope that doesn't put me in the bad books.Anyways I think that some of the information is cumulative to chart performance between dealerships and individual salesmen to determine awards and bonuses.Because I got the feeling that the sales guy was trying to rush me out so fast after I signed the papers, I was a little peeved, which is why I didn't fill out the survey. But I guess I should have been more understanding, it was nearly 7PM on a Saturday by the time I left the dealership.

The salesmen get a bonus for every good report they get back on the survey. I had the survey pushed a bit on me as well. The dealership also gets some kind of incentive from GM for good survey results too. So they all REALLY want you to turn that survey in so they can get their money.

Yeah I wanted to test drive an automatic base Vibe and they only had the manual transmission available for test drives. That dealer didn't get my business. The dealer I did go to and got my Vibe from, also showed me a large wall copy of the survey and told me it was very important to fill it in. I remember getting it and filling it out, but I don't think I actually got around to mailing it in.

I guess if your earnings were based on a comission/bonus, you'd be pretty intent on getting as many of those survays back also.

Did anyone else get the line - "anything less than a completely satisified for any answer is considered a failing grade"? They actually didn't need to bother - I'd never had a better experience buying a car. The GM survey was of course followed by one from JD Power and another from some company beginning with M.

I got a different survey - from GM asking about my small town dealer's faciltiies. This dealer's showroom etc is from the 50's but they sell every car for $49 over invoice with a full tank of gas and no hassles - and they show you the invoice so you can even see their holdback which of course they keep in additon to the $49, They don't try to sell you paint protection, window etching etc. What do I care if the building is 50 years old if they treat you right and the price is fair. It's clean and neat and I'd bet their service peole have been there for years. I gave them the highest marks on everything. I suspect that GM is pressuring them to build a new multimillion dollar facility. But since they sell a lot of cars I doubt that GM is going to pull their franchises. They don't need the biggest service facility as a lot of their sales (like mine) are from people 50 miles away.

That's exactly what my salesman, and the dealer manager told me.To be honnest, for me is it almost impossible to makes me "completly satisfied". I can be satisfied but I never bough a car without having some "less satisfied" thing happening.Just as an exemple, how can we be completly satisfied when we buy a bran new car and the low fuel light is already on when you take the car from the dealer? This is the king of thing who makes me not completly satisfied.

I tell all my customers that unless you have an issue with your service, PLEASE mark completely satisfied. This survay is not like some resturant one. Your answer ARE our grades and we DO fail if you are not completely satisfied. If your satisfied, why not completely satisfied? Is that such a hard thing to ask for? It costs you nothing to check that off for me. This is honestly our report card, they all get recorded and every three months a report gets sent around that shows your % as well as the district % and the average % Your answers are on that report and everyone looks over it. Those Completely satisfieds are a 5 and satisfied is a 4. A row of 4 is good all the way across your report but unless you had a prob, how hard is it to give us a 5?These do hurt us when returned without a good grading. Ever gotten called in to chat with the dealership owner because his dealership is way below standard cause of a low CSI grade? Sure everyone put good and satisfied... but we need a COMPLETELY SATISFIED to make an impression as a dealership who cares about their customers.
