Vibe GT mileage vs. Matrix XRS mileage

Post by noginsk »

I just got off the pontiac and toyota websites different mileage epa estimates from the same 2zz engine. Pontiac says 25/32 and Toyota say 25/30. Any thoughts?

Different bodies equals different drag coefficients. Hence the difference in HW milage. drag isn't a factor in determining city driving however. So the Vibe has a slightly better drag coefficient than the Matrix.

Interesting. I figured that the roof rack would cause MORE drag.

The US EPA mileage estimates can be looked up at http://www.fueleconomy.govFor the 2004 Matrix/Vibe, the numbers for the Matrix are the same as for Vibe:base 29/36 (5 speed)AWD 26/31GT/XRS 25/32However, for the base with auto tranny, the Vibe is rated at 29/34, and the Matrix is rated at 28/33. 2003 vibe and matrix base/auto were both 28/33, so the Vibe numbers went up by 1 each for 2004.If you put any faith in EPA mileage estimates.maybe the 25/30 was a typo. Was the Toyota 25/30 number for 2004's or 2005's? fueleconomy.gov doesn't have 2005 numbers yet
