Photoshop fun - new look for Vibe

Post by Geo »

Being as frusterated as I am that there seems to be such a plethora for a LACK of anything for the Vibe, I am looking for things that I can do now that will improve how it looks. My proposed plan involves new springs for a drop, and removing the side Vibe badge, as well as the side door molding. You can see it here:Now, I am wondering if anyone knows for sure whether or not those side door moldings are just stuck on with tape (like I think they are) or if they are there with tape AND boltings (like is there in some VWs) The car looks a LOT sleeker w/o them, so if there aren't any holes or anything, you can probably bet that mine will be coming off (provided I keep the VIbe around for a while longer)Opinions welcome, perhaps this will inspire someone else.

i have wanted to do this since i got it, but i'm also not sure, what's underneath. If you do it, please tell me, cause mine will be off also. Also, the 2nd pic looks great.

Two way tape and clips probably are whats holding that molding on... Nice lowered pic.

I just checked by taking a flashlight and looking down into the door.At the beginning and end of the plastic moldings, there is a little plastic clip that goes into the door to hold it in, in addition to the double sided tape.So if you were to remove the molding, it would leave two holes per door that you would have to get a body shop to fill in and repaint. Needless to say, this totally sucks and I am now bummed out.

That really stinks. I hate those, but forgot the whole body shop thing, i guess that is life. I'm glad the badging wasn't like that also.

Because I was bored I decided to do the same from a different angle, and add in the same lowering. (This set has my new cladding as well, woo!)

Quit it i love it without those side strips. I might have to look into it. I wonder how much it would cost to get those filled and painted???

Well you figure that they will have to repaint the entire door to do it ...I'm guessing it's too much for my wallet, sadly.

Without the side mouldings any parking lot dings will be on the door and not the moulding. I got about 8 nice divets on mine over the winter and I live in the country, so the car is not in dangerous parking lots at the mercy of idiots very often. Just something to consider.

Just to tease my desire to drop it 2 inches.

Nice photoshop work! I say, if you're going to remove the side moldings and spend the money to get the holes filled, you should also shave the door handles.

I think it looks better with the molding, That's just my opinion.

WOW!!! That looks so awesome with shaved doors! The only thing missing is a ground effects kit. Too bad there isn't one available. Maybe we could talk one of the fiberglass guys into making a prototype.
