Need help w/ Cosmo short ram install

Post by rocstar »

I'm new to the Vibe and this forum. I got brave and bought a short ram from Cosmo for my base vibe. It did not come with any instructions, which was a little dissappointing. The intake tube only has an opening for the temperature sensor, no other ports. Most of the CAIs and short rams that I have seen have at least 1 vacuum port. This short ram does not. Did I get the wrong tube? If not, what should I do with the vacuum line? Thanks.

welcome to genvibe. I did a search for "cosmo", there are a couple of threads on the cosmo CAI, but I didn't see any on the short ram. Looked at cosmoracing.com, and they don't list a short ram for the vibe or matrix, but they do list one for the corolla VVTi.too bad you didn't get instructions. There should be a place to install the mass air flow (MAF) sensor into the short ram, not sure about a temp sensor. If there really is no place to hook up the vacuum line, then I would probably plug the lines up with something for now.cosmo racing web site had a link for support, maybe you can hit them up for the instructions.what kind of vibe, base or GT?

Welcome to genvibe.Looking at there web site http://www.cosmoracing.com/productlist.asp?cid=43 , they don't list any Short Ram System for the Vibe or Matrix. I did find listings for the Cold Air System.BTW, If you need help with the install I'm only 20 miles east of you in Bay City.

I e-mailed Paul in sales at Cosmo before buying this, and he said that they do have a short ram for a Vibe. I was a little worried because it wasn't listed on the web site, but Cosmo seemed to have a good reputation. Paul didn't return my last e-mail when I asked for instructions a few days ago.I guess I don't know which part is the mass flow meter, and which is the temperature sensor, but basically there is only one opening in the tube for any sensor. What is the purpose of the vacuum line? What will happen if I close it off?I will continue trying to work with Cosmo. I would like them to confirm that I have the right part. I appreciate the offer for help, and may take you up on it.

Oh yes, this is a base Vibe, not GT. Thanks.
