Miles Per Gallon

Post by Whitey »

I just got my Vibe 1-1/2 weeks ago; I was expecting 28 MPG city and 33 MPG highway. But surprise, my sticker says 29 MPG city and 34 MPG highway. It is the base Vibe with auto. Is this something new, something not advertised? What actual MPG readings do you get?

the 2003 Vibe and Matrix EPA numbers were 28/33, but in 2004 the Vibe numbers went up one to 29/34 (base w/ auto tranny)Interesting that the 2004 Matrix (base with auto tranny) stayed at 28/33 (source http://www.fueleconomy.gov)There are actually a lot of threads about gas mileage, over 20 so far. probably best to search for posts with "mileage" in the title, and see what people have been getting. I posted my results in http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=450welocme to genvibe and congratulations on the new car

I'm back up to 34 mpg, mind you a Canadian gallon is slightly bigger. I think this has to do with me driving the car a lot more. I am a little smoother and speed less than the wife. The weather is a lot warmer too which means less idle and warm-up time. I expect the numbers to rise a little more.

I have a 5speed and the worst mileage I ever got was in summer right after I bought it. It takes a while to kind of "break in" from what I understand. That milage was about 26. The best I have gotten was during a long road trip (800 miles) and it was winter time (below freezing). On this trip I got about 40mpg. My average right now is around 32 and when it warms up, will be about 34. Again, I have the manual with EPA of 29/36
