AMSOIL ATF...warranty safe?

Post by mkosem »

I noticed that amsoil atf seems to be the only synthetic atf claiming to meet the type t-iv rating. Is it actually certified to work in our transmissions? I have a 100k powertrain warranty and don't want to have any troubles with that down the road.It was suggested to me by the shop that's going to be putting in my cooler that I stick with the stuff from the dealer, as this is guarranteed to give me no problems(they use the fluid directly from toyota).--Matt

adminII, a member who's been inactive for a while, is actually an AMSoil dealer. His website, http://www.performancemotoroil.com says:Quote »AMSOIL INC. warrants that the use of its lubricants will not cause mechanical damage to any mechanically sound equipment when AMSOIL INC. products are used in full compliance with the AMSOIL recommendations. He goes into greater depth here in a discussion about the warranty and AMS oil synthetic oil use:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=5665#64838

Be nice if there was some way of knowing who was was still out there at least tracking the posts and who was gone for good. i.e., according to the update list, Zig is our newst member, # 1782, but there's a dozen or so that I know of who haven't been heard from in many months...

if you're really worried about it affecting the warranty, then stick with the toyota fluid. Maybe the amsoil is really great stuff and maybe it 's better for your tranny than the toyota atf, but being practical about it,, the toyota atf should be good enough, and eliminates any fluid suitability doubt if you do need warranty tranny work at some point.you're getting a tranny cooler installed? Does the stock auto tranny not have a tranny cooler, or are you getting it upgraded?

the stock auto tranny has no external cooler. I want to add one, as this adds much life to the transmission.--Matt

Okay so instead of a new thread i thought id use this one.Im flushing my Auto Tranny next week, I also ordered a tranny cooler to install. Anyone else use amsoil? I was thinking of using it, a 2.5gallon thing is like 92 with shipping from amsoil. Or what is everyone else using for synthetic tranny fuild?

I'd just stick with the T-IV as recommended. I actually changed mine with T-IV, and just used one quart of Amsoil with the refil.
