So I'm convinced...my next project car...

Post by savedbyzero »

Omni GLH....yup, an Omni. The potential these things have is unreal! And totally cheap and easy to tune/work on!If you've never visited http://www.thedodgegarage.com you need to! This is the guy that put his Reliant K into the 10's! There's a video section of several different FWD Mopar's walking on some serious V8/JMD power! A standard Turbo GLH can be pushed to 15 PSI with minimal work and money! That put's you close to 200 hp at the wheels in 1600 lb car! Oh ya! THE ULTIMATE SLEEPER! Rust and all! Now, I just gotta find one and donor car with the Turbo II motor/electronics! Junkyards, here I come!

The old joke back in the day was: you know why it was called a GLH? because it Goes Like Hell.

A friend of mine had a non-tuboed Omni that would really surprise a lot of people.

Funny you bring this up because a few months ago, my gearhead friend was tossing around the same idea. I laughed at him and said "an Omni, you've gotta be kidding!" but it turns out that I thought wrong. Best wishes on finding the car and parts. I believe that the GLH's are going to be hard to come by. May be the same luck with finding that engine also, but I'm no Mopar guy so I can't say for sure. I still see a good many Omni's on the road, usually with rust around the rear hatch window. Seems to be the trademark Omni rust area.

Oh, man I found this site where these 4 coillege kids made an experiment out of testing a Dodge Omni's capabilities...the intent was to destroy it in doing so...might be http://www.projectomni.com . That thing was a monster.edit- that link doesn't work so i dunno what site it was.
