Cruise control issue?

Alright - this is beginning to bug me.Has anyone else noticed the cruise control not 'remembering' a previous setting?Here's the circumstance:On the highway, toddling along with the cruise set, and need to slow down for something - so touch the brake, or use the cancel to go to manual control. Fine. Leave the cruise turned on so you can go back to that setting.Clear the slowdown, and hit the 'resume' to return to cruise -- only it doesn't! It's lost it's setting, and you have to re-set it.I've had this happen repeatedly, and seemingly randomly (sometimes this happens, sometimes it works normally -- about 70% of the time the problem happens though).So has anyone else noticed this?

If you slow down to less than 25 mph / 40 km/h, the cruise will not resume.If you don't go below 25/40, you should have no problems resuming.

Apparently the cruise control is designed to 'forget' the speed setting if the speed of the car drops below a certain speed. I think it is 25 mph. There were a number of posts on it here.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=1100

Hmm, I've never had that problem and I've even set the cruise at 25MPH (in fourth gear) (guy talegating me in a 35 and then talegating closer when the speed dropped to 25, I set the cruise so that I didn't reflexively speed up). I have noticed that sometimes if I don't push the resume as far as it can go and hold it for just a split second then it won't resume, but I've gotten used to it now.

If you hit the cancel button, it will stop the cruise control and you will not be able to resume the speed.If you push the brake, you will be able to resume the speed, except if you solw down of more then 20-25 mph less then the speed set up previously.

I had a customer with that same concern at work when the Vibe came out. We discovered that if he brought his Vibe GT to a stop, it did not remember former settings... Was informed by GM as a safety feature incase the cruise was tapped accidently while in the wrong gear. Say in third when wanting to cruise at a speed you would be in sixth. Well imagine the HIGH RPM and taking off in LIFT lol... Well anyway hope that helped.

At least, I think i've done it with the cancel.If you turn the cruise off, that is, tap the on/off button. It'll lose the settings. If you "cancel"..then "Resume"..it should remember. At least, that's how it's worked on my GT. I've never resumed after going slower than 25 though, as I usually only use the cruise on open highway.

My old car didn't have a cancel and I used the clutch to turn off the cruise

What I don't like about the design is that there is no separate indicator for "engaged". On my Civic, there is a light for cruise control "on", and another one for "engaged".

I've never seen an "engaged" indicator on a car before.That's an interesting concept.But my opinion is, most people should know if it's engaged...Someone could prolly create a circuit that feeds off the CC circuit that could light an LED when the cruise was engaged if one really wanted to...

I agree with you... The only time I saw 'CRUISE' illuminated on my last car was when it was actually set.... Quite a few recent GM cars are like that.Seeing 'CRUISE' on the Vibe and it not being set took some getting used to.EDIT: Today, I found that if I cancel, a few seconds later one upward tap of the lever will resume. it would seem if I wait a while after cancelling, it will not resume with one tap - it then takes two. Huh?

You have to turn that on, a light on the button is lit to let you know the system is ready, and then the "cruise" indicator in the dash is only lit when the cruise is in control of the car. I've always liked that...Much better than my 93' Probe. I don't think it even HAD a cruise light.

Boy, am I glad I looked into this before taking my car to the dealer. I thought I was going nuts when my car did not resume after dropping below 25mph. I was thinking it had to be some setting in the car for it to forget my setting when dropping below 25. They really should make mention of this in the owners manual.
