can the moon roof be adjusted

Post by gogoputter »

Anyone know if there is an adjustment to make the moon roof seal better? Mine leaks from the right rear corner and the dealer is going to install a new seal around the moon roof but never mentioned a possible adjustment. When it leaks I can take my hand and push up on the right rear portion and stop the leak. Just curious. As always....thanks !!!

The sunroof is adjustable some. There are two screws on each side of the sunroof that attach the sunroof to the other mechanisms. Supposedly if you loosen the screws, there is some adjustment possible, vertically and forward/back. THe screws are accessible by sliding the sunshade back, no need to remove the headliner of anything involved like that.( page 8-594 in the 2003 vibe service manual. )the manual says that the glass should be flush with the roof when adjusted properly. when you look at the sunroof from the outside, does the right rear look a little lower than the roof? If so, maybe just loosening the one screw closest to that corner, push up a bit and retighten the screw might fix it, but that's just a guess.

water is not coming it to the car right?there all like that , read this --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Info - Sunroof Water Management #04-08-57-001 - (01/15/2004)Sunroof Water Management2003-2004 Pontiac VibeThe purpose of this bulletin is to inform the technician of the sun roof water management system. When the vehicle is exposed to rain or while riding through a car wash, water may enter past the seal and into the sunroof gutter system. This is a normal condition. The seal is not designed to be water tight. Its purpose is to reduce wind noise and manage the small amount of water that passes through it. The purpose of the gutter is to manage the small amount of water that may drip past the seal. The customer may notice water dripping from the sunroof seal into the gutter. The technician should not try to eliminate the drippage if it does not enter onto the headliner, seat or carpet.

there might be hoses at each forward end of the headliner/moonroof where water entering can flow down the tubes down the A-pillar and out the plenum you might want to see if the hoses are loose or plugged. the GM 1/2 ton trucks have the hoses. hope this helps
