speaker installation

Post by spideymike1 »

I'm thinking I want to upgrade the speakers in my car. I have the moon & tunes package. The problem is, I personally don't like seeing the aftermarket grills. I want the door skins to look stock. I know that there are tons of you out there that have swapped out the speakers - anyone leave the door skins they way they are? Also with the tweeters - does the OEM grill just pop off? I would love to see what speakers you all used - I am leaning toward Infinity/polk but unsure of fit. Thanks!

My speakers are all under the factory grills-including the tweeters on the component set in the front.

What kind of speakers are you looking at as far as depth? Make sure you get a "lower" profile depth for the front, so that the window doesn't hit the speaker.

Yeah, I'm with everybody else. you'd never know mine were aftermarket unless you look really closely.

I just did this in my Vibe and the oem tweeter panel pops off ...just lift from the bottom. I replaced the tweeters with Boston's and put an extra set of tweeters on the A pillars. As far as the oem grill for the tweeters once you remove the tweeter panel you can see how it is attached.

as far as figuring out what I was going to replace them with - i'm still up in the air. I know I have to go with something that isn't too deep - I was hoping something from Polk - Honestly as much as I want to upgrade I haven't had the time to start yet...gogo = thanks for the post - I was looking at the tweeter grill and thought that they pop from the bottom but didn't try thinking I was gonna break it. Now I know that's the way though...

I have the Polk MOMO components (MM6)'s in my doors, fits behind the door panel with no problem.
