2nd genvibe birthday planning & poll

Post by joatmon »

Stang2Vibe's research shows that the genvibe.com forums opened for business on 1 April 2002. see http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=3191The forums' second birthday's coming up, will be Thursday, 1 April 2004.Let's have an online birthday party,It would be interesting to see how many people we can get to show up in "active users", get as many people to log in on 4/1/2004 at the same time. (you show up in active users if you are logged in and read a post or forum index. )The poll below is to see if there is any particular time of day that is best for us to all try to be here together at the same time. vote if there is any particular time of day when you can be here, add an option if your preference isn't there yet.will probably also start a birthday thread that day too, to consolidate any birthday sentiments, maybe work as a sort of genvibe roll call tooIf you're a member, please plan on logging on and participating that day, if you're a lurker,it would be a great day to finally sign up and say hiAdmins - not trying to do a stress test on the server, speak up if this is a bad idea.:drink;

I can participate just about any time that day except from about 3:15PM to 9:30 PM EST. I will be gone for work during that time and I don't have access to a computer at work. I have class during the afternoon that day, but it is a computer class and I will be in the computer lab with internet access, so I could still be in on it. If it is earlier in the morning, I will set my alarm early and wake up to log in.

I was asked to come back to the forums to say "hi" by a member yesterday since I signed on as one of the early members (actually, I signed on 4/1/01) and the 2 year anniversary was coming around. I thought this was as good of a post as any to say hi!To get everyone to log on for April Fools day is a cool idea. Since it will be tough for everyone to sign on at the exact same time, you could also start a thread that day and have people post into it, thereby signing "Happy Birthday" to the forum as they have time. You could still shoot for as many people logged in as possible at a certain time, but this way everyone could take part!

If everyone had AOL Instant Message we can all hop in on a group chat. I can start if you guys would like. Just add me to your list.If you guys do decide to do this. All you'd have to do is add me and I'll except you into the chat with everyone else. There you can add all your freinds to your list.

We'll have to see how the whole 'chat room' works during that time period. If it goes well, I'll look into getting this installed on the GenVibe servers for future uses.

for official record keeping stuff, what time zone does genvibe think it is? I have my profile set to display tiems as Eastern Time, but for seeing who logs in on the actual 4/1 anniversary, what is the official time zone?

Look at the Active Topics area and compare to your time. I verified this in the forum settings and also logged out, cleared cookies, etc. and it still reflected Eastern time as configured.
