Inspection part of warranty work ?

Hello all,Just out curiousity...Say I think there's something wrong with my Vibe( major or minor ) and I bring it to the dealer to have it checked out... never mind the outcome, should I have to pay for the inspection? If inspection is included, is it part of comprehensive warranty or powertrain ? thanks.

You should not pay a dime for the inspection...At worst, they will not found the trouble and give you back your car.The only time the dealer charge for the inspection, it is when they can proof the trouble is you fault.

Yeah you should not be paying for the dealer to look into a problem your having with your car if its warranty or no fault found. Only if the cause of the prob is something you did to your car... or sometimes brake issues can be an interesting concern.Of course we can't offer you good advice unless we know what happened. But hopefully what we did offer you helps.

What about when you have to take your car in for certain things. Like on GM it says to take the car when you reach 6,000 miles for some check up thing or something. Gotta look it up again. Is this also covered?

Most of those xxxx mile "checkups" are in fact maintenance work, and are not covered by warranty.For example, fluid replacements, oil changes, chassis lubes (i use that term VERY loosely) are all considered periodic maintenance and are not free.

Well these are the 2 things I have to take to dealer for Engine Air Cleaner Filter Inspection Interval: Every 6000 miles if driving in dusty conditions.Next due at: 6000 milesTire Rotation Interval: Every 7500 miles or 12 months whichever occurs firstNext due at: 7500 milesNext due date: 08/01/2004I pay for these?and last question. Who says you HAVE to go to the dealer! As long as you document what you do, and its a good idea to follow the maitenence schedule as close as you can! I have never been back to the dealer except for a wheel stud that I broke while rotating the wheels. I have relationships with many garages in my area because of the work I do, so I bring my own oil and filter and they change it for the cost of the labour($8). I put the reciepts in a photo album, along with a picture after every mod, and document every bit of service! It not only proves that you are maintaining the vehicle but will also prove to any prospective buyer beit the dealer on a trade in, or a private sale you can demand top dollar for your very well taken care of vehicle! Is it worth saving the cost of the maitanence versus replacing at your own expense, some very costly components?

They are considered periodic maintenance and are NOT covred by warranty. Warranty covers defects in materials or premature failures due to defects.Air cleaner inspection/replacement you most likely only pay for if the filter gets changed.Most dealers won't charge to pop off the cover and look at the filter.
