ohl

Post by rasermon »

The Ontario Hockey League starts one week from today. The North Bay Centennials is now the Saginaw Spirit. I think the Saginaw Spirit is the only team in the USA that plays in the OHL, correct me if im wrong. We are located in mid-Michigan, about a 2 hr. drive from Sarnia Ontario. Hockey is big in Michigan (RedWings) and now it will be nice to watch these young players try to make it to the pros.

Is there not a team in Plymouth anymore? And how bout the Erie Otters? With Saginaw now, there are at least 3 American teams in the ONTARIO Hockey League. Go figure, not that there's anything wrong with that. It's a business. North Bay was a very storied and proud franchise. Very tragic that they couldn't pay the bills. Huge loss to North Bay. Note to Saginaw: You have big shoes to fill. Hope you're up to the task. North Bay will be watching you and the team and watch you like a son who has moved on. Centenials are dead. Long live the Spirit!

The Saginaw Spirit, played its first-ever regular season game last Saturday(9/21/02), falling to the Sarnia Sting 5-2. "A bad start? Is it or isn't it," it wasn't a good start. But I also learned a lot about these guys. There were five or six of them who were playing their first OHL game. They will learn, just like the rest of the team will learn.Tonights game, Windsor Spitfires at Saginaw Spirit [ 7:30 pm ].
