Start engine with block heater plugged in ?

Is it OK to start the engine with block heater plugged in and electricty current going through ?thanks

Hi huy,Everyone else answered your question but I'm gonna add my 2 cents cuz I actually added the block heater myself so I might be able to assure you a bit more. The block heater is just a metal resistor probe type thing that was inserted into a machined hole in the block. The wiring is directly connected to that from the plug you see outside of the vehicle. No electrical connection is made directly to the engine block, only to this probe. So, starting the car with it plugged in won't affect it in any way.Dave

That's why I am wondering if I could start my Vibe first, then unplug the cord with empty hands.Thanks again everyone for answering my question Jeff
